I also use the Madera bobbinfill--buy the larger size and I fill 10 or so bobbins at one time; as I hate to stop in the middle of something to wind a bobbin..Diane (when do you have time to sew--!!!)

Yoriko, I have been using polyester thread in my bobbins for on a year, and my best embroidery has come from this. I also started with bobbin thread black and white, untill the lady at elna one day told me to use a good polyester. I think it is because polyester is a little bit thicker (bulkier) than bobbin thread, and grips better. (This is just my thinking)

I use special bobbin treah from Brilldor and bought it from my dealer on big cones, white and black. Only use embroiderythread for FSL. Hope this helps Yoriko.

Hi, I use the prewound bobbins. When they start to get low I replace them as sometimes they can cause problems. Then I wind what is left onto a bobbin.

Yoriko I also use Madeira bobbin thread.
I have also tried others but this seems to work the best for me.I have also tried prewound bobbins but my machine does not like it.
I use embroidery thread in the bobbin only for lace of very thin fabric's

Hugs Yvonne

I always use special bobbin thread, Madeira, the 10,000 m cones and I use Madeira embroidery thread as well. I got 2 boxes of prewound bobbins (different brand) from my dealer, but only my Melco EP4 likes those, my Desinger 1 and my Brother don't like prewound at all.

I order Madeira prewound bobbins, in white and black it is 100% polyester and is thinner than embroidery thread. I don't have to replace bobbins so often. Also very little link produced.;)

Hi Yoriko, I just bought 5,000 yd Madeira bobbin spools from AllSTitch.com and I love it.
I also purchased some White and Black Madeira Rayon for FSL as I seemed to have the worst time stitching plain white or black FSL, the quality of white and black threads just wasn't as good as coloured threads, but I love the Madeira, it stitched out without any problems at all. I don't think i'll ever use anything else now.
hope this helps, hugs n roses, M

I just visited the website. Is that "Madeira Polyneon #40 (Polyester) Thread - Spools 1,100 yds" ?

There is a link under additional items for 'Madeira bobbin thread'.

Ricky's right, Yoriko, I use special bobbin thread, too. I get it at my dealer, but your Aussie pals can tell you where to get it in OZ. Emboidery thread is too expensive to use in bobbins, unless you're doing a two-sided design. Best of luck finding some. Love, Marji

hi yoriko i use "coats fill more thread" ($10.00) for embroidery. it come on a 10,000 metre cone. i wind all of my own bobbins. it is very thin and it does not pull the top thread down. when i am doing towels or anything that you can see the back i use the same as the top thread. I only use rayon threads.

Where do you buy it? Can I find it in Spotlight?

mpo14011 by mpo14011 21 Mar 2009

You should be able to get it from your dealer or any place that sells good quality embroidery thread. I don't think Spotlight sell Coats.I wouldn't go there to buy my threads ,anyway. The quality is not always there

Thank you for the info, Martine. I'll try to find some dealer or a place where I can find them. Maybe try the ones Meganne wrote about.

Bobbin fill is thinner then your normal sewing thread and there for goes further. You don't have to rewind your bobbins as often. It is especially designed for embroidery. You can get it in white or black and is much cheaper to use then your embroidery threads. I use Coats bobbin fill.

Thank you, Barb. Is it a special thread for bobbins? I wind myself too, but use a regular white for embroidery.

blhamblen by blhamblen 21 Mar 2009

MOST of my thread is Coats & Clark, they are a 40 wt trilobal polyester..BUT the bobbin thread is a 70 wt. I have tried using the same thread on top & bottom for reversable designs...My machine just doesn't like it!!

Thank you Raelene, I've noticed that the polyester goes faster than the embroidery one.
