Good for you! Think we've all let ourselves be taken advantage of and saying no or charging a fee it the only way to break em.
I remember that post you wrote and am so pleased you said NO.....Good on you!!!!!!
I am proud of you.I got stuck with a lot of that untill I started telling them it would be this much to do one and tthat put a stop to it.
Just Marvelous toet. there comes a time when everyone has to b able to look someone n the eye & say that word. I too have learned people will take advantage of u. they seem to think " the machine does all the work" Little do they know all that's involved. Proud of u, now stick with it. * Congratulations on developing a backbone!!
If someone is asking for a favour they should realize you have a right to say no and they should accept that with a smile. They in turn do not have a right to be angry or upset if you do say no. If someone is only friends with you to demand things of you it is not much of a friendship.
Heather, you did the right thing - I know for me - I have had to do just that and when it was all said and done - I still did the work - but it was paid for and both of us got what we wanted and still remain friends - once they understand that you mean what you say - they do come around to seeing it - your way. It is like opening a can of worms - Hehehe! Good for you, dear one. Shirlene
Congratulations Toet. The comments from other Cuties have made me laugh at the different situations people have been put in by people expecting work for free. The one about 'borrowing a machine' is totally priceless. Would she lend her car?
To all the cuties, you got to be cruel to be kind. Just say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo. Love Marie
good for you. Sometimes it is hard to say no but I have learned that after saying it a few times, it does become easier to do!!
I am glad you took our advise and had the guts of saying no. Althought it is hard for us some times we just can't let people take advantage of our generosity. *2U
Didn't it make you feel good to achieve that. I know it did for me I was always a succor for jobs for free. I now have to control myself when I make something for myself not to give it away because some one likes it.
Good for you !!!!!! I also belong to the "scared to say no" club, and think I must use your example, because you really sound good about yourself.
Good for you!!! Hope she enjoyed the cuppa, and realizes everyone isn't a pushover. Price it out, who knows, maybe you could start a business, hee hee hee. I'm proud of you for standing your ground kindly but firmly!! Love, Marji
I think i like the idea of keeping embroidery as a hobby getting paid for one sometimes to help buy new equipment would be good.flowers for you.
My congrats to you. I still have a had time saying no. I'm getting better at it but it only took losing half my stomach to ulcers to get here. Please take from one who knows don't worry yourself about people who are users if you want to do something for someone fine but people like yoou are talking about will keep coming back until you have nothing to give. God bless
you have done well to say no. I waited over 40 years to learn to say no ... and I regret not having said earlier!Sometimes, it is important to say NO with a smile :o)
Good for you - people sometimes 'expect' things for free not realizing that there really is an expense involved. I have someone just like that but at least every now and then she'll spring for a spool of thread - and get this, she now wants to use my machine herself and then tells me "You can go do something else!" Sure just turn over my $5000 machine to somebody for a spool of thread, don't think so, so now she's a little snippy with me when we run into each other, oh well, tsk tsk tsk. Stand your ground, you are in the right.
Thant's funny use your machine ha! Mine only cost 200.00 and I wouldn't let anyone use mine. You made me laugh on that one Some people have a lot of guts HUH?
What a cheek !!! I am quite shocked, and, cannot believe some people.
GOOD FOR YOU !!!!
Mine is a old one but I gave 3500.00 for it when I bought it and I would not let any one else use it I know if something hapends to it I can not get another one . when I was on vacation my friend tolld me I could use hers I said I don't think so.
I have a friend here and she has 4 machines when mine broke she said come over and use mine I thanked her and told her she was very kind but I would wait for mine.
Way to stand up for yourself:) IF she really wants the towels done she WILL offer to pay...NOTHING in life is FREE!
I don't mind doing favours for friends and family, this lady only talks to me when she is looking for a freebee, thankyou for your input,i carn't believe how guilty i felt.flowers
I Had a friend like that too. I ask her to get the thread for me to do it. When she saw how much the thread was she didn't ask anymore. Good for you girl. *4u
Great . We all have to learn to say no sometimes and it is not easy to do
