Ronny, I know it seems to be that your giving in, but look at it as your gonna have more freedom. My dad had one (we still have it after his passing) and the only thing he would not do, is give into the chair. Although he used it alot, when he could move around on his own, he did. He said that he knew that if he gave into it and used it all the time, that that would be his life. But it was a big help to him in those times when his legs just couldn't give what he needed. Believe it or not he even wrecked it twice, running around in the back yard. We got a kick out of that. You will enjoy it in the longrun. Prayers and blessings, Libbie

Thank you Libby As a matter of fact i went for a "walk" with my husband last night. We live in the country so I had time to get used to using the chair without getting in anybodys way or anything. it was nice going down the road again. i used to walk them all the time for exercise but now I guess I'll ride for the sheer pleasure. Thank you again God Bless always Ronny

I'm glad you're getting out with it, and "sheer pleasure" is GOOD! Go for it!

My dear - my Mother has been wanting one of those for years - mind you - she isn't handicapped - just very weak - when she went into the Skilled Nursing Center - they put her in a wheelchair - she hasn't' gotten out of it - except to get in and out of bed and going to the restroom. I really wish that she would try harder, now. I can see how you feel - loosing your independence and all. But it can also give you some, too. And the plus side is - you can go much farther than you have been able to do so - to date. If it doesn't have a basket - try figuring out a way that you can attach a nice big sturdy bag to it - so you can carry things around. I can see that you will still have to use the cart while shopping, so perhaps this will be your mobile means to get in and out of some of the others places - that you haven't been to for awhile. Those Grands will adore you for all the fun that you can have with it, too.

Hey, my girlfriend has one, a power chair, and she can't get out of it for more than a couple of steps. She's got pinwheels on hers, and stickers, and all sorts of stuff! She's 67, and defies convention. Embroider some FSL and decorate it for Easter!! Hee hee hee, luv ya, Marji

It must feel like giving in, I can understand that. My dad had what we here call a scootmobile in the garage for months before he went out and used it last year. Said it was something for old folks - mind you he's 96. In the end I had to persuade him to go out with it, then he let me run like mad while he tried it out at top speed. But now he does his shopping and is glad of his independence. I hope you'll be able to enjoy the freedom it brings.

I'm sure it will be great and I know I will use it I get so tired when I'm out. At home I work a little and sit a little (of cousre I did that before I got sick LOL) so it's not so bad when I'm home and when I went to the store I always proped on a buggy because I figured some old crumpled and yes I ment crumbled person could use the carts Just kidding. I just didn't want to admit I needed one but I guess the time has come. I told my daughter I got it and she must have known I was a little bummed out all she said was moma how bout don't run over my children. That's my girl. Thanks for your concern.

Martine, your Dad sounds like mine did, he was always complaining about "old folks" doing dumb things, even when he was 79! I guess there are those who never get "old", hee hee hee. Good for your Dad, he must be a great fellow! M

Dear Memasanders, my young sister is in a wheel chair for 5 years now...so I know how sad it is, for both sides, for the ones are there and for the ones are watching that. Just know that you are loved no matter what. I love you too. God bless you, Yoriko.

Thank you you're so kind. He has already brought the chair.I've tried it out and I can't drive the chair any better than I can drive my car. LOL I have my sense of humor back. But thanks you and love goes to you too.

I know, it's like a symbol of all you've lost, isn't it. The first time I had to use one of those riding carts in the store, I thought I'd die of embarassment, or shrivel up inside because that made me officially "handicapped". I surely do not like this getting old nonsense!!! Believe me, I understand. But think of the energy you'll save for other things. If I didn't take that stupid riding cart, I couldn't get back to the fabrics at WalMart, so there is an upside. Or maybe a downside, as my closet is already bulging with fabric. Hang in there, I really really do understand. Love you, Marji
