the upper thered is looping on both the right AND wrong side of the fabric. I mean BIG loops on the under side!! I have adjusted both the bobbin tension and upper thred tension as much as I possiibly can, but there has been NO change in the size of the loops. Is it possible that this is not a tension issue?? Is there anything else I should try?? I am so reluctant to call the dealer AGAIN and sent this darn machine back AGAIN (this would be the 4th time I have had to send it back). I'm at my witts end!!

SO..if anyone has any ideas what I might be able to try...I am open to suggestions!

Thanks for reading, and any help you might be able to provide!

Oh you poor thing. How frustrating. How would I deal with this situation? Well I would write to the Brother HQ for your country sending copies of everything that has happened, putting the ball in their court.
To me part of the cost of my machine was buying from a reputable and reliable source. The fact his shop is over 2 hours away is looked on my some I know as madness on my part doesnot come into it. I get the machine for a yearly service, bits and bobs needed get posted when needed. I also know I can phone and ask mad questions that get answered.
The shop you are dealing with probably dont know what to do with you and must be dreading you contacting them. A flower for your patience seems far too few. To finish if everything is in writing the other end can look carefully, ask questions and contact you. Look forward to hearing the result which I hope will be a final answer for you for all the problems suffered.

I had actually considered doing just that. I still may go ahead and contact The Brother Corp. and see if I can can get any satisfaction from them. The place that I have ordered it from, really have been good about the whole thing, but I really wish they would just offer the refund.

Thanks! I know it will be repaired or replaced. I'm just wondering how many times I'm going to have to re-pack the thing and send it back.

Get on the Brother site and file a customer complaint. Not with the company servicing the machine, but with the seller and with the machine. Make copies of any paper work you have and put it with the complaint. Tell them that you really do not want your money back, but a machine that works. They have a help line where you can call and speak to authorized dealers or repair service. I had to do this with some software that came with a Brother I purchased from Ebay. The machine works wonderful, but the software was the older version and will not work with the new ped basic. They were very friendly and very helpful. Brother is one of the best machines out there. I love mine and I know you will to when you get the kinks worked out.

Thanks so much for the advice! I hadn't looked into the site enough to realize that they had a customer complaint area. I will deffinately be checking it out!!

Well,I finally made the call, and I have to send the machine back AGAIN. They will not offer a refund, but will give a store credit. Unfortunately, there is no other type of machine that I want, that is in that same price range, and I can't afford to pay increase my price range. SO....I just have to sent it back again. And as long as the machine is under warranty, I guess it will be a back and forth game.

Well, at least I still have my older, smaller machine and it still works great (a Brother, by the way). SO, I can still get my embroidery fix while I'm waiting for this one to be repaired.

Thanks to all of you for your advice and sympathy!

Oh, my, and I thought Brother was a good company! Probably someone else is making their machines now than used to years ago. I'm glad they've been helpful, anyway. Even though they say they don't give refunds, perhaps if you go over the problem with them, reminding them of how many times you've had to send it to be fixed to show that you've done this in good faith, aren't just a twit that wants to use a machine for a while & send it back, they would comply with a refund. If I were the company, I surely would. As a last resort, there is always the Better Business Bureau. You just want to be able to sew with your machine, not have it live at the post office half the time! Best of luck to you! Hugs, Marji

Well, when I make the call...which I don't want to do while there is a chance that I might get hysterical and nasty...I'm going to suggest the refund again. I dare say that as many times as they have had to pay for shipping and return shilling...they have already lost almost $200 on this sale. I would hope that they will want to cut their losses at this point, and just refund my money.

Thanks so much for the well wishes!

Take the machine in, get them to set it up, u sew on it & show them what it is doing. Take the various threads u use so they can see if it is the thread. If it's u they will help solve the problem if not u will feel better & they will get to the root of the problem. Simply tell them u want them to watch u & tell u what's wrong.

That is actually a good Idea. I'll just have to set aside a morning to make the trip, or wait util the weekend when I'm not so pressed for time. Thanks for the advice!

Some machines don't like certain thread types... are you using different thread? My Singer could use less expensive brands, such as thread I got from Thread Art... but my Baby Lock does NOT like it at all! Try using a different brand (buy a couple of spools) and see if that makes a difference. ???

I'm so blessed to have a huge dealer by my house... I can only imagine what the ladies go through that have to order machines online. Hope you get this resolved soon!

Well, I have tried several different brands of thered, including the Brother brands, and the pre wound bobbins that Brother recommends. I've even changed the bobbin several times just in case the bobbin might not have been wound with the correct tension. It's just so frustrating!

Ok here's my thoughts - my husqvarna did this a couple hundred times when I first got it and it was me and the bobbin was in backwards! Never had a problem with it since and I sew like the dickens every single day. Could it be something that simple? If not and it's actually the machine at this point I think i'd get my money back and buy a different brand. I don't know how much you paid for your machine but you could probably buy a 'previously loved' high end machine for the same amount of money. Maybe it's like cars, remember the Gremlin? Anyway I wish you the best of luck, get your BFF and go to town for the day.......hopefully you'll come home happy.....

Thanks for the advice. The bobbin is in correctly. It might just need a new bobbin casing, or something. I guess I'm just going to have to make the dread phone call. I think they willbe about as happy to hear from me, as I willbe to make the call. LOL!

I have had really good luck with Broter sewing machines, and my first embroidrey machine was a brother. Still works great, which is good because I am still using it when I sent the new one back. I just got to the point where I wanted a larger embroidery field and ordered this machine. I think this might just be a poorly designed model!

I actually have an older Bernina Deco 600, that needs adjustments of something. It was given to me by a friend os my sister's. I'm thinking I might just invest a bit of money into getting it adjusted and repaired and start using that machine.

I had a Brother that sewed fine for 8 months, then I started having the same problem. It took 4 new machines before I got one tht actualy worked. And each new shipment took about 2 weeks. This was around birthdays and Chriatmas, so I wasn't too happy. The one I have now seems to be working, but then I've only had it for a few months.
The problem with the first machine was that the tension was all screwed up, and it was looping the thread on top and the bottom loops got caught in the bobbin and got stuck. I lost some nice pieces because I ended up having to cut it to get it unstuck.
I hope you have better luck than I did!

I can deffinately sympathize with you. I have destroyed two T shirst this weekend. The first one, everything was going beautifully through 3/4 of the project, (I was using many different designs) then the problem started when I was on the Last phase of the project. Very frustrating!

I'm sorry that you have had to go through it too,but I guess I'm glad I'm not alone.

Are u sure they didn't just give u the oraginal machine back. Keep a note of the machine Number etc & when u returned it. I would also send a sample of the faulty stitching & ask what to do. Do u have someone close to u as sometimes 2 or more heads are better than 1. The timming may be out & the threeads are catching on the bobbin spindal every now & then. Best of Luck. *4u

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, there is no one else that I know that does any sewing or machine embroidery And. Yes...I have kept track of serial numbers on machines, and they have all been different. If I could find a brother dealer fairly close to hoem, I would just take it there and have them look at it,but the nearest Brother dealer is 2 hours away. SO...I'm better off shipping it back since THEY have to pay teh shipping as long as it is under warranty.

wendymay60 by wendymay60 30 Mar 2009

a 2 hour drive is what I do each week just to go shopping. Go with your machine on a day when the person who will do the repairs is there so you can talk to them. or change your machine to anothe model.

waterlily by waterlily 30 Mar 2009

Good point! I'll have to make a call, and see if they will take care of a machine that still is under the Manyfacturer's warranty, even if I didn't purchase the machine from them.

I'm with Barb, take it back to the dealer! No one deserves headaches because of a machine that doesn't do its job! Hope you have it sorted out soon, till then a big hug for you,Yoriko

Thanks so much for the advice. I'm going to try demanding a refund. Surely, they have to see that eventually they will be LOSING money on this sale, for as many times as they have had to pay for the shipping!!

I would take it back to the dealer...set it on the counter and tell them to sew with it...then they will see that you are not crazy...and IF they give you another THEN sew with it b-4 you bring it home!

Well, Unfortunately, I ordered it online. And so far ALL of teh machines they have sent me, sewed just fine for about a week...sometimes, longer...before the trouble starts. SO...testing the machine before They ship a new one, doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I will pray for you - I do believe that I would take the machine back and ask them to have it fixed by the company - they don't seem to be getting it done. Hehehe!

The dealer has actually been very good about fiing or replacing it. The macine has been replaced with another machine TWICE and one of the machines was "repaired" once. They do not offer a refund, though. But at the rate we're going, they are spending A LOT OF MONEY on shipping charges every time I ship it back to them, and they ship a replacement. I think they would be better off to just give me my darn money back!
