OH Lilllian, I am so sorry to hear of your loss - even though you can not attend - I know you will be there in spirit. And you are right she did love and care for your father and that does make a world of difference - I hope one day - my step children feel the same way about me - my prayers are with you and the rest of the family.

it is a great comfort to know we will be with our loved ones in another time. Take comfort in knowing you will be able to be with her again and enjoy each others company once more. Funerals are meant for the living to have some sort of peace within ourselves in saying goodbye, BUT our Lord will also give us peace and it is a joy to know he holds our love ones in his hands. That should give you a feeling of gladness for your stepmom...prayers for your family are headed your way...deanna

Oh Lillian, I just saw this. I will sent a big hug to you. I was unable to attend many of my family and friends funerals due to location. I felt guilty and sad and was worried what family would say, but over the years I have learned to accept the fact I do what I can don't worry what others think or say. Of course with my Mothers situation at present, the head caregiver thinks I should come back and live with my sister and Mother. This has been the opinion for 10 years. Lillian, I'm so sorry!!! Both for the loss you so deeply feel, and because you can't be with the rest of the family to hug and comfort each other, and say a group goodby at the funeral. That seems to be so important to us, do as some others have suggested, have your own memorial service, either privately, or perhaps at your church. You are in my thoughts & prayers. I know how much it hurts to loss a loved one and not be able to attend thier funeral. this happened to me and my Aunt who took over as my mother when my mom passed away. Just remember that they are taking the same sspecial memories with them that they leave behind with us. You are in my prayers for comfort at this trying time.

Oh My Dear Lillian, my heart goes out to you, your Dad and family. It is so hard losing people we care about and even more difficult if we don't get the chance to say our good-byes.
Perhaps you could have your own private farewell service as you know your stepmum will be with you and it will mean so much to her and to you.
Yes I do believe and have had it proven to me many times. If you can say your farewell, until you meet again, it will help bring you peace of the heart to cope with her passing.
