I don't think I would use plastic. It doesn't dissolve when you wash your garment, so you will always have a piece of plastic between the design and fabric, and plastic takes longer to dry then the rest of the garment. Plastic also sweats, so you could be left with a damp spot in humid, warm, or damp weather.
It is also not designed to be used as a stabilizer.
I'm in the UK. what is press and seal? could it be what we call cling film? Anyone know??
Yes I think it is (I did an internet search) and like you and for the reasons mpo14011 says as well as not wanting to risk bits of plastic getting into my machine - just think of the repair bills -I'll pass this tip by. Thanks anyway debleerl, I try to read the tips never knowing what I may learn, but like all things in life we must choose what to accept and what to pass by. (Hope that doesn't sound priggish it's not meant to.)
No, Press & Seal is not the same as cling film, it's heavier and easier to handle. I was using it on fleece for a plush toy. I don't think I would use it on a t-shirt. However, it works better than Heat& Gone topping. Heat & Gone doesn't disolve from under the stitches either. So I will try it on terrycloth. No I didn't think you were priggish; we all can pick and choose what tips we will try or pass by. *4u
I am totally new to the machine embroidery world and still trying to learn my machine. I search your tips and projects all of the time trying to learn. Thanks!
Thanks, I'm a newey and just love all the tips. I have to buy what the saleslady suggests and it is costing me a fortune as they won't tell you about things that can save you money.
Happy embroidering to all the Cuties.
Thank you for this tip!!!! I will pick some up on my next grocery shopping trip. Certainly is cheaper than WSS!!!! Thanks!
I haven't tried fleece yet but I will keep this tip in mind ;D *2U
This is a great tip! Thanks for letting us newer members know about it.
Thanks for the tip. This is such a great site to get answers. Lynn
Thank you for the idea. I have to find Press&seal in Australia :) *4u
What a GREAT idea ... I'll have to give it a try!
Thank you.
thank you for this tip.. I will try it next time I embroider on fleece..
How great you all are. You just keep saving me money Thanks
I will definitely try it. It is always good to give these tips from time to time because some of us are newer and don't have the benefit of you wise women who have already tried everything. Thanks for the tip.

I think I missed this also. I'll have to try it. I assume it would work on terrycloth as well???
Thanks for letting us know how it works, I can be wrong but I believe it was MissCharlie who told us about this sometime ago. *2U
???do you use it instead of WSS??? Did you hoop it or just lay it on top???
I used it as a topping like the clear WSS or Heat & Gone topping. I didn't have to hoop it since it stuck to the fleece. It tears right off when your're done.
it actually stuck to the fleece?? that's great..I have to try because I work with fleece all the time. thanks so much.
I guess I missed that post. What is press & seal?
It is a food saving product, kind of like the plastic paper but heavier
http://www.glad.com/plasticwrap/p...
It's a plastic food wrap that sticks to itself, glass, or metal. It's much easier to handle than saran wrap. I'll keep a roll in my sewing room from now on.
