Does anyone still dye their own Easter Eggs?

YES! Even though it is just my husband, 89yr old mother, and me. I boil the eggs in different pots (some with the onion skins )..just a few but they do taste better LOL...even the next day,in devilled eggs. I'm a sucker for tradition.

I not only dye them we then continue on to decorate them with anything we have on hand. the button ones look so cute. I have made bunny looking eggs used pom poms pipe cleaners ribbons and just about anything we find kids love it. A friend of mine brought his daughter and she just thought it was so great they came over again tonight to do more

Yes, I will dye some just for ME! No family, but I will remember everyone I used to color eggs with. Besides, the colored ones taste better than the white ones!! Happy Easter, everyone, love, Marji

Is that like tanned fat is prettier than white fat? That's what my friend tells me.;)

We always put dye in the water when we boil eggs, even when it isn't Easter. It lets you know which are hard boiled and which are raw. Saves a lot of mess when you would get the wrong one. :)

This will tickle some of you...I just got a note from my niece in Japan who let her 2 yr old daughter dye eggs all by herself...She put her in the bathtub with all the colored cups around her and let her go....just washed it all down the drain and then gave her a "BUBBLE"!!

Not any more. I did boil three dozen and will make deviled eggs out of them. I also made a couple dozen each of homemade peanut butter and cocoanut choc covered eggs. What fun that was and so tasty!!

Sure do, if the grand daughters are going to be here! We usually dye about 4 doz. as we all like to eat them! BUT since this is their year to go to other grandma's, I won't be dying any, but will be boiling some! Maybe I'll dye a few just to kid my 27 yr. old! We USED to hide them too, that is until the year we didn't find one that was hid in the rec. room...our poor dog was blamed for weeks for stinking up the rec room! Until we found that missing egg under the stero! Hee hee!

Of course and if the grandchildren are here we do them OUTSIDE! Hey at our age we can even hide our own eggs and then hunt for them!

Hee hee hee, no foolin' about hiding our own eggs. Why do you gals think I don't do design hunts, I'm hunting for all the 'real' things I'm missing all the time, hee hee hee. Hope you find a Happy Easter. M

Yes! I did it today with my 3 yo, my 16 month old and 2 of their friends. It was great fun and they loved the colors. We did it out on the patio table and they made a little mess, but not too bad. We will be doing it again, maybe even before next easter. The 3 yo actually ate one of them later on, I think he thought they would be chocolate!

How neat that someone else remembers this, Lillian!! We often dyed eggs this way, Mom's family was from Poland, her Mother taught her, and we didn't always have money for store-bought dyes. Thanks for the good memory. I have my onion skins ready for this year. M

We don't have little ones in the house - so we just boil them up when we need them - Hehehe! But I do create baskets and items for the grands to have at their own homes - out of the way of temtation here. *4U

I dye mine; it adds a lot of color to the supper table!!!

Since the grands are grown or mid teens I only dye a
few and cheat at that by making them all one color during the boiling process. Yep, I should be ashamed to have missed all that fun.
