Has anyone tried Fringe designs? Do you clip the loops or leave them as is? Or is it a matter or preference?

Veronika posted instructions here with pictures on how to clip the bobbin thread on the back. I did a copy and paste and saved in my fringe folder. If anyone wants/needs the instructions and can't find them here just send me an email.

Thanks for asking this question...I have wanted to try a few of my designs that have the fringe..maybe too chicken. Now I can give it a shot.

Fthe first one I did I actually cut throught the stitches. the second I did as should be done, found the bobbin line at the back, cut that and pulled loops to the front.
I must say both look alright. I also like the one where I cut right through lol. Try some small ones and see what you prefer

I hv a feeling there's a certain way to clip the stitches? I remember from something I read (when Jesus was a boy, lol), that you hv to clip the thread from the back. Does anyone know for sure; I'd like to know. I'd hate to wreck a design by cutting the thread the wrong way just to get a fringe. Thks

yes, the cutting is from the back, and in most of the digitized fringe designs I have done, there is a definite line that you can see to cut( from the bobbin and top thread). The fringe is then pulled to the front of the design. You need to give it a try.

I have done a couple of frige designs prior to Cute designs. I clipped the back and pulled the threads to the font of the design without any further clippling. We did this in an embroidery club class when I got my first machine. Some in the class did have to trim some extra long fringe to make the design look better. I will try to post in projects so you all can see.

Thanks for the info. In some of the photos it looks like the loops were cut while in others they weren't. I just wondered if it was a preference thing or how the design was supposed to be.
