I was told only Husqvarna and was to afraid of trying another so I bought another one. 100.00 dollars but my warranty is ok. *4u all
I have a Designer 1 usb too and have used other usb sticks, up to 2 Gb, and they work well. Alias, when I received my machine, they gave me a list of brands I could use instead of HV ones. I bought Kingston ones (up to 5 Euros each one)and I am very pleased with them.
I have a D1 and use all the cheap flash drives as long as you format then they work fine. in fact the one that came with my machine stopped working but my cheap ones still work fine.
My dealer told me you could only use the Husq stick for the Designer 1 USB, but I would try any stick before buying the expensive Husq one. I haven't had my D1 rebuild for USB and still use diskettes, so I have not tried this out myself, but a friend of mine has and she had no problem with the cheap ones.
I have a HV SE machine, and I use several different USB sticks. HOWEVER, I USUALLY copy the design to my HV stick that came with my machine, and remove them later when I need space. I think HV's stand is if you have a problem with your machine reading the stick, they won't help you UNLESS it is theirs. I don't know about a DE1. GG
well I've always only used the one with my maachine but my dh was lowering my machine a while back and didn't remove the stick and it's sorta bent a little. Still works in the puter and the machine but won't fit in the lap top anymore so thought I'd get a new one but not for a $100.........
I have a Pfaff Creative Vision machine and use a very cheap USB stick that I bought just in a cheap supermarket 8GB for € 9,00 and it workes perfect for me.
I have a Janome so I'm not sure about your machine. I do know that I bought my USB sticks at Staples and they sure were a lot cheaper than yours. You might want to check with your local computer store and see what they say. I have found in the past that the sewing stores almost always say you HAVE to use their stuff but I have found out that this isn't necessarily true.
I'm not sure about the Hus/Vik machines, but with Baby Lock, I can use ANY stick up to 2 gigs. I would suspect that your machine is similar. What does your manual say? Have you tried calling your dealer?
