I buy a lot from Discount Embroidery Supply.com. I find the 505 spray to be cheaper and they have the schmitz needles. If you buy a certain amount, the shipping is free. Check it out!

I buy almost all my supplies from the dealer that i bought my machines from in Augusta, Ga. I get discounts on everything I purchase from him including designs. They also put a small bag full of bobbins in with every purchase when I start to leave. They even give me bobbins for the older Singer XL that I bought from somebody else. Of course, I did buy 2 Baby locks from him and memory cards out of the yoohoo before I got the Ellageo. I can throw a floppy in the computer now and get the free ones and put the floppy straight in the machine and start sewing! Ilove that! Of course I spend about $50.00 a month on floppy disc. Anything I really like I also save it to a CD so I can transfere to a memory card if I want to later. I have so many memory card designs I could probably come up with just about anything somebody asked for anyway. I do not have that many designs for the Singer but I am glad I did not waste my money on them because I do not like to use it! It has a beautiful stitch and I have never had any problems with it but it is harder to use. There is an alphabet glitz on a built in design that they never got fixed on that model but I have a card with alot of fonts so I never worried about it. I just love my Baby Locks. Oh, what I wouldn't give to be ablr to afford the new Ellisimo they just came out with but that is just a pipe dream.I am living off disability now so "no new machines" unless I hit the lottery and I can't afford to buy a lottery ticket! heehee If I could hit the BIG lottery the first thing I would do would be to pay off my bills, the second would be to buy a Motorhome. I would hit the road and see everything I have always wanted to see and I would always be in a cool place. I can not stand this awful Ga. muggy heat! If my son and his wife wanted to go, fine, if not, goodby! I would buy me some land in Wears Valley Tn. and that is where I would park it when I got tired of riding. I don't have many years left so I have a feeling my son would not be too far away just waiting for me to kick the bucket! HeeHee Hey, we can wish when we know that is all we can do!!!! Boy, did I get off the subject! Linda in Ga

For Marji and Anyone who mails overseas from the USA.

USPS often seems to quote the highest postage to Australia either because they know you won't query it, or because they don't know any better.

If you need to send mail or packages overseas, check out their website, and thoroughly investigate all the options, then print out the page to take with you when you go to mail your parcel.

Sometimes you can fit a heap of stuff (up to 4LB weight) in a flat rate envelope for only $12.95, cheaper than a box and great for unbreakable, or soft items such as materials.
I hope this info is of great use to you all for your future mailing needs. Remember you have every right to question the price quoted, even to ask to see a supervisor if the salesperson is not helpful, in this economy every penny you save is better in your pocket than someone elses.

I get my stabilizer from Joanns, I just love it and if I use the 40-50% off coupon it's so cheap, I buy it by the bolt, my threads come from JoAnns (with a coupon or on sale) and ebay. My designs from all my cuties and ebay......That is of course when I had my machine (sniff sniff)

I purchase both of my supplies from Ebay. Thread from Thread Art (fantastic price and have never had a problem with the thread) and my stabilsers from World Weidner Co. Once again great price and I've always had a great result from the products. You can find the Schmetz Needles cheaper there (at ebay) also.

I can see by checking some of the responces that Metro thread is much cheaper than the thread from Thread Art. Will have to remember that and a Thank you to Meg for the question and Shirlene for the link.* 4 everyone.

simplyrosie by simplyrosie 29 Apr 2009

Oh Metro thread is awesome! I have had NOTHING but trouble with Thread Art thread. They won't respond to my complaint either.

Definitely go with Metro... excellent and very affordable. Also allstitch.com has great deals.

So far, I've gotten all my supplies from Super Stitch, the dealer where I bought my machines. I too get discounts because I purchased machines from them (along with free lessons and help on the machines and the software, isn't that cool?). But I have noticed that SiCK is now selling stabilizers, thread, etc. For those in the USA and Canada, this would be worth checking out, because the prices are reasonable, and the stabilizer is made by the guy who developed stabilizers for Walter Floriani, only they're a lot cheaper. When I get low I'm going to try them. To Australia, I don't know. I do understand you're far away, but golly gee, the postage is way out of line to y'all!!! There are airplanes, now, we don't have to send things by dugout canoe. Stupid post office wanted to charge me $24 for a 6x12 envelope, for pete's sake. I don't get it. Good luck, everyone!!!

Good Heavens you should have checked that pricing, they have a website I use to check prices so I always know if Ebay sellers are charging too much.
Or if USPS is trying to rip off my US friends. I'll post a picture & link in here in a few minutes for you.

My local store doesn't sell bulk stabiser only the boxed sheets & they're way too expensive. I love Shoppers Rule I buy lots of items from them far cheaper than I can get them here in Aus and that's even with the poor exchange rate and expensive postage to downunder. It's incredible but true. hugs n roses, Meganne

Since my favorite store is going out of business, I guess I'll be looking around for another source. I do have a "stash" for the time being. I'll have to check with my local sewing friends where they go, or start looking on-line (since I live in the country - at least 10 miles from the nearest store). Thanks for the advanced warning.

I live 2 miles from Sewing Machines Plus... and since I get an automatic 15% off at their store (buy all my machines there), it's more cost effective for me to shop there... AND, they match all internet prices. woo hooo!
