Good advice already give. I like vilene WSS. Use the wss that is not clear plastic. I usually say the kind u cannot see through,or the kind that looks like fabric. If u do not let it set too long n the water & u want it stiff the dissolved wss will stiffen it. as already said use same thread bobbin & top & I always slow my machine down to slowest speed. Make sure the WSS is tight n the hoop. I use a felt collar n my hoop so that it will keep stabilizer from slipping, that is a key keep the stabilizer taut. good luck *
amazinggrace, the way that I do FSL Bookmarks may differ a bit from Ruth's advice - but with each design that we make - we each adapt to what works for us - I to use high quility tools, such as thread, stabilizer, designs and the such - to make a better thank average item. You hoop the water soluable stabilizer (WSS) - put the same thread in the bobbin as the top thread - stitch your design - cut the design for the WSS - close, but not too close as to cut the threads - rinse in warm/hot water - until you can no longer feel the mushy/sticky WSS - pat between two layers of toweling - lay flat - allow to dry - if you are like me and have no patience for this - use a air dryer - if it is not completely flat - try placing it on toweling or use a pressing cloth and steam it - no need to hit it with the iron - unless you like that pressed down look - viola - you have your bookmark - it is lace - that you created with WSS and thread - if for some reason something is not perfect - you can throw it out - if it LQQK good to you - everyone else will see it as perfect and will enjoy it and be amazed when you tell them - how you made it and they will treasure it, too. Have fun - look through some of the projects, to see the outcome of FSL Bookmarks - you will love the diversity of each. *4U Shirlene
Make sure you have good quality watersoluble interfacing which you hoop first. Put the same colour thread in the bobbin as on top, and let her rip. Follow the instructions for dissolving the interfacing then pat dry. When dry spray with starch to stiffen and press flat. There is usually a loop to attach matching ribbon on the completed design, make sure it is a reasonble length so it will stick out the end of the book. Hope that helps Ruth *4u
hi! just make sure that you use the proper tools or materials in your embroidery to make a good result. heavy water soluble stabilizer is the best one to use. then use the same color in your bobbin. Just be careful in cutting the stabilizer not too close from the design. I know you can do it with best result. Enjoy embroidering.
