Just a personal thought: your sister's 80th birthday, you really ought to spread your little wings & fly down there. Life's too short, spend time with those you love, pay the credit card off later. I don't think you'll ever be sorry if you do. Hugs, Marji
Thanks everyone for all your wonderful suggestions.
My three nieces are hosting a craft weekend this weekend at my deceased sister's homeplace. I went down tonight and I told them about the party and that I wanted to make some gifts. I gave them the suggestions and they all agreed on a hand towel with a birthday cake and "Happy Birthday to you" for the guests and Happy Birthday Rachel for my sister, so that's what I'm going to go with.
Cassandra had this design under birthday towel topper and it's on sale now for $3.00
I see you got wonderful suggestions!!! I also do FSL for almost everything! Love,Yoriko
Grocery Bags - the new "green" kind that you never throw away.
Jewelry Bags - for travel with the drawstring
Potpourri Sachets - looks pretty in redwork
Towels/Washcloths/Hankies - these are always nice gifts.
You can put any little design in a small frame too and the ladies can set on their end/coffee tables.
The more I think about it the more I really want to join in the celebration. I'm pretty sure I can't make the trip driving as with my bad knees, I would be hurting too much once I got there. Perhaps I can "fly" down there.
Eugenia, I love to make bookmarks for anything - lol. Have you ever been to any of these sites? They all have great favors and gift idea's:
Thanks Shirlene,
I found a "Happy Birthday" Towel Topper that has a cute design - with the same design embroidered on the towel. I have never made a towel topper, how hard are they to make?
Well, depending on where the Towel Topper is from and what it looks like. Send me link to it - I can give you more info and what it might take to make.
Maybe a magnet--I've never made one, but they are on "my list" There's a cute one of a cupcake with cherry on top on Embroidery Library.
OR--one of the cute shopping bags people have been posting?
AAAAAHHHH yes A shopping bag would be really nice - maybe I could "swing" that since I only have to make 12.
If you know sewing, you can make some handkerchief with your sister name or monogram in the corner or a gereric design (male/female).
After I wrote this message I thought that I could call the hostess to find out the color scheme and perhaps make napkins with a fsl corner, but then each person would only have one napkin so that wouldn't be too nice.
A Hankerchief would be special also.
I could get the names of the guests.
How many people will be at this bash? That kind of lets you know how much time you can spend on each favor. I like the sachet idea of Barb's, or perhaps a pretty FSL bookmark? Ricky's newest pansy one is just stunning, by the way. Do the gals have some hobby in common, like sewing? Little scissor cases would be cool. Good luck, and I think it's great you're doing this, a way to participate when you can't be there, your sis will just love whatever you do, I'm sure. Hugs, Marji
There will be 12 guests, so I don't have to make too many. I am so bummed out that I cannot make the trip as I know it would be so special for my sister.
It's her 80th birthday.
