My point of view...
The way I see it, we don't need a tutorial or "rules" for the postings we make ~ just common sense. If it is of concern and interest to the community (and let's remember this is an embroidery website) then it should go into the community with the proper tags ie. designs/freebies, I for one love reminders about freebie collections (fonts, and some of the designs like the snowmen @ charming station & VCCS's monthly design.) I hate the wait for those designs and I always forget about them and YES they are in my favorites along with hundreds of other "favorites" and perhaps that is why I forget them they are all lost in the list lol.
I do think that sites that always have freebies do belong in the bookmarks section, but we will always see the ATW posts and the yahoo group reminders.
I belong to 18 YG's I get the newsletters when the freebies are posted in the group as I am sure most of the memebers do, so I do not understand postings for ATW members new sets added or YG's posts when if they are not a member then it is not usefull to the non members. I am sure they will continue to be posted tho.
It is odd that we ask Veronika for different things and she is always so willing to oblige such as the personal tab, and yet people still choose to post their personal lives in the community, so be it.
I had to chuckle to myself when I read Meganne's collecting flowers comment, I have also thought that on several occasions. Now don't get me wrong I think it is a nice gesture to give a person a flower in appreciation... but dang some of these folks act like they can be used as a discount or something lol. Now IF that ever does happen I will then become a very avid flower monger LOL.
To address the few cuties that have websites and post their sites here with designs for free or for sale, that is Veronika's call. If she doesn't want them to do it she needs to "police" it not anyone of us.
Lastly Designs by cuties I check there from time to time, and NOT because someone has posted that they put a design in there ~ so that is rather redundant IMHO.
Well said, Charlie. Unfortunately, "common sense" is much too uncommon these days. What will change is that some of us will just fade away, and maybe that's as it should be. This isn't the place I joined any more. M
ttt for more to read!! Can't we follow guidelines so people don't have to feel hurt here?
I just saw this post now, and I didnt know that I was breaking the rules. I will not post anything about my website again. I'm so sorry!!! Hugs, Yoriko
Yoriko, the problem here is that
THERE ARE NO RULES!!!!
At least none set down by Miss Veronika.
Only recently has she been directing Marji to write up guidelines for her.
In the beginning all we had was Community and (ONLY AFTER) many Cuties expressed the desire to be able to talk to other Cuties without everyone seeing, did Miss V create tabs for personal and private.
She also created "BOOKMARKS"
FOR PEOPLE TO SHARE LINKS TO FREE DESIGNS!!!!!!
Is everyone reading this??????
Then she created Designs By Cuties so those of us who digitise could share our designs with other Cuties if we so desired.
NEWBIES do not understand how this site evolved and therefore just seem to do as they please, and because Miss V NEVER steps in to say otherwise,
THER ARE STILL NO HARD AND FAST RULES!!!
Hugs n roses n much love, Meganne
I have been following the Marji's guidelines, which I think are great and what an effort from her doing all those for all of us. But I still think that things should change, frebbies to bookmark, so we dont need to read things like this anymore, hurting other cuties...
No, I have not written a tutorial for posting in community & personal tabs. First, I don't want to be labeled "the Cute police"; Second, no one will pay any attention anyway. I thought it was rather self-evident, that embroidery stuff should go in community, and personal stuff in personal. Everybody says "I don't have TIME to go to personal"--but it's ONE click, and everybody's news would be all together in one place!! Just like if everybody posted freebies in the "designs" category we could use the sort function of the website and get all the designs at once, then get all the 'general' comments & questions at once. I can write more tutorials on how the website functions work, I can put up pictures, but if nobody wants to DO it, what's the point of wasting my time? I just go other places that are more to my taste, and spend very little time here any more. A lot of us do. Such is life. Hugs, Marji
Just please don't lose touch with me, my friend, I would miss you too much.
Hugs n roses, n much love, M
I totally agree with you Teri. Some people here does not follow the rule at all. Some even posted their own web site announcements. If they own business, there are plenty advertising search engines out there for small amount of fee. I don't need to name few.
Hi Soi, I just saw it now. I will stop posting my website, I'm so sorry I broke the rules, it was not my intention to do that. Please, accept my apologize. Yoriko
I must confess that I am also guilty of using community when I should have used personal. I also don't read the personal. I just don't have time. In the community section, I just skip over post that I don't care to read or don't interest me. I really don't mind seeing the freebies post. I no longer chase them, but a few sites I still collect a running alphabet and I don't mind the reminder of new letters up, especially sites that wait one or two weeks between each letter. You know I do have sometimers and need all the help I can get!!!!
Hi Teri,
You may remember that there was once a time, when all we had was "community", so I'm afraid i never remember to even look in "personal", let alone post there. Probably wrong, I know, but old habits die hard.
Besides, "community" was never meant to be a forum for posting free designs either, but it seems that's about all it is used for these days.
I'm sure if Marji has written a tutorial she will let us all know.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
you are wright, but I must admit I like the postings of free designs and reminders
also. besides the personal questions and embroidery questions.
I don't mind the reminders for collections, in fact i sometimes welcome them as I also suffer with YDS, but there are so many who post the same links to the same sites, again & again, and we end up with page after page of freebie posts instead of Cuties talking to each other.
We also seem to be losing a lot of our Longer Standing members and I think it could have something to do with this.
And i sometimes wonder if SOME people only do it, not to share new sites but to collect flowers, Heaven only knows why, it's not a competition.
OK, you can all shoot me now!!! LOL!!!
hugs n roses n tons of love, M
