Clean, & oil your serger (overlocker)Change needles check everywhere for small particales of thread & lint as they will catch up. Thread with a colour cotton that is easy to see. check that u are not looping the thread where it should not be. pull on the thread to see if it runs free, if it doesn't back pull from just near the end (Needle end) if it runs free go further back until u get to your cotton spool, do this for all spools. Try stitching. if it works when rethreading always cut cotton at top of machine & knot new thread too old thread & pull through. this will also pull loose lint through with it. Good luck. 35miles is only a short drive as I drive double this each week to do my shopping

yep, took it to the store and seems that a needle was not in far enough, and when it would try sew it would unthreaad itself! so all is well now - I Hope!

check your needle. if your needle has a burr or a snag it can cause the thread to break. also old thread will break. try a different kind of thread.

Like they said, start over completely with the threading. I sometimes take a shortcut and knot the new thread and pull/stitch it through. If one breaks and I re-thread incorrectly then I have the same problem you are describing. Good Luck.

CHANGE THE NEEDLE!!! I just had that same problem. Everytime I rethreaded the machine it would mess up. I was ready to scream. Then the other day while i was working with it the needle just broke right out of the blue. I changed the needle ans since then I have had no more trouble.

Bikermom, If you have rethreaded and have your threads correctly under the footfeed, and you still have trouble, try changing the needles. Many times needles can cause more trouble then we realize. H&*.

You need to make sure your loopers are threaded correctly as one goes under, and one goes over, if you don't have the thread correct it will not pick up the stitches.

If it starts stitching correctly, then stops, it is probably something mechanical, such as a looper not functioning correctly and yes, it will need attention. Sorry.
Hope this helps.

Hugs and roses, Meganne (former professional overlocker still my favourite machine's).

Oh, don't forget the bottom looper thread goes underneath the sewing bed and runs along the looper through the hole at the left hand elbow thingy, before going back and threading the looper eye. If you miss this step it will not feed the thread and yes it does result in the thread jumping off the bottom looper and not catching. Hard to explain and very easy step to miss.

Sounds like this could be her problem...great explaination!

Talking about the 'elbow thing' , mine springs back automatically, but does NOT in my daughters. I went on threading and rethreading hers till the cows came home and then the penny dropped.

When threading your serger make sure that the thread is catching under the tension disks...

I'm afraid to get mine out of the closet. I think you are on a roll - - first your machine, and now this. Good luck.

sometimes lint will get into your tension make sure there free of lint plus make sure your thread is going between the two silver plates also if you cut your thread just as it comes over the tree tie a small knot on each string you wont have to keep running the thread all the way thur your machine once your knots hit the needles sometimes it will feed thur or break just thread the needles right side first than left make sure that you pull the strings to the back of the right side sometimes if you dont pull your strings to that side it will not sew right hopeful this will help

HI,
You have to un-thread the hole machine and re-thread it in order, and make sure your tenson is set, you might try blowing out the serger, This happen to me and i went CRAZY, then a friend told me to do this. I hope it works for you.

I know nothing about sergers, but since they don't have a bobbin, the loopers serve that function. If it's not catching, seems like a looper isn't moving into position to make the stitch. Could you have bumped something, or somehow gotten something in the way of the looper moving? There should be some kind of cam that makes it move over to make the stitch, any blockage? Um, this is why I'm scared to death of my serger, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji

Yes...Unthread both needles...rethread your machine threading the upper looper first and the needles last..always thread the upper looper first and needles last....
