I think embroidery only is just that. That is why when I got my machine I made sure it did everthting. *4u all
That's exactly what I thought. I was just wondering if those that had Embroidery only machines had found a way to do the zig-zagging. I'm fortunate that my first embroidery machine was embroidery/sewing, so I just switch over to the sewing machine when necessary.
I have an embroidery-only Janome 300E, and the only thing it will do is digitized embroidery designs. There is no sewing option of any kind. I've never made a FSL bowl, is it that hard to zig zag it together? I would sew it before I washed the stabilizer out, though, because it gets stiffer when you wet that stabilizer, and probably harder to sew. Hugs, Marji
Well, after doing my project today, I did realize that it would have been easier to zig-zag BEFORE I rinsed. I had rinsed first, and it was, indeed, kind of stiff to work with.
waterlily if there is any other method I am unaware of it, but rest assured if there is, someone will b along to tell u how. *4U
Well, I DO wish there was a way to do it without having to switch machines, but I guess I'm glad that I'm not missing something that I should have found.
I had an embroidery only machine and it would only sew out the programmed designs. It didn't have any other feet to go with it or feed dogs to pull the fabric through, so switching it over to a direct zigzag was not an option. If you are a digitizer, you might be able to digitize a zig zag to do this, but you would also have to figure out how to hoop the bowl as you stitched it together, I would think trying to work around the curves in a hoop would be a challenge that I personally would not want to take :)
I'm not so sure I would want to try it either. It sounds very complicated. LOL! I guess it's a good thing I have a sewing machine, too.
