Thanks for the info. I made one using boning. It turned out nice. It closes softly. I have several more I need to make so I might try the metal ruler.

ok this is what i use for glass cases. You will have to go get one of those extending metal rules that are spring loaded,
Yea, look the brain cell light just went on, see what i mean? they go click click when you bend them too far but spring back again
You then just need to fully extend the metal and cut of the end attached to the spring.
If you cut off from the beginning then you have a problem getting to the rest of it as it retracts faster than than an icecube in a furnace.
you need then to cut off sections half inch shorter than the finished case.IE. 4 inches
you will note that the cut ends are sharp so put some dux tape to cover the edges,
To make it into a spring you will need to put the sections BACK TO BACK. these can be slide into the top hem edge of both sides of your glass case
BE SURE THEY ARE STILL BACK TO BACK. THERE SHOULD BE ABOUT 1/4 INCH CLEAR FROM THE EDGE SO YOU CAN STILL SEW THE EDGES OF THE CASE TOGETHER WITHOUT DAMAGING THE NEEDLE,
Now you have your spring closing spec case.
get the rule from those cheap shops and not the very expencive ones,
Hope this will help you

I use the same thing when looking for a snap closure LOL but my husband has so many and they break by break I mean they stop spring back into the tape measure LOL so I take them for my sewing projects great way to recycle his broken tape measurers

Thanks for the replies. I checked the flexi frame and it's not exactly what I'm looking for. This case has 2 plastic pieces that arent connected. I thought maybe it was recycled plastic from some container. I tried cutting a piece from a fabric softener bottle but it didnt snap back straight when bent. Anybody have any suggestions?

Did the one you used have a hinge? This one has 2 seperate pieces that are in no way connected. They are loose on each side of the top casing.

Check in the purse section of your local fabric/craft store. It sounds like it could be one that I have used to make coin purses. Hope this helps
