Lbrow this is so pretty, I have that design and never used it, maybe I'll try someday, you did a beautiful job!!!*****
Beautiful! Well done! Thanks for sharing this one. Maybe I'm too young, or just out of touch with the right people, but I have never seen this done to a pillow case with the hand embroidering. Your grandma would definately be amazed at what an embroidery machine can do!
Lovely Lillian. this design never ages does it. Was around when I was a girl, now I'm now longer a girl (like to think so though) it's still around
Lilian, I still have a pair of these pillowcases my Mom made me when I was a child. The cases are pretty fragile, so I keep them stored in sealed plastic bags. I actually used to use the stuff Mom made me, so you know how "holey" it is, hee hee hee. What a kick to see this done on a machine. Mom of course did it all by hand. Good work, Lil!! Love, Marji
Thanks Marji, They say when u get old u live n the past, I think that's true, u remember things like this that u haven't thought of n yrs. *4U
Lillian, this is just lovely and well done, so very beautiful
Lillian, this is beautiful, well done. Your Granmother would not beleive that a machine can do all this, it must have taken her so long to do hers by hand. (I still love to do hand crochet work) *4U Hugs Yvonne
Acatually Yvonne it's FSL(the skirt) Thank u * I've always like crocheting. I've done so many doilies, afghans, baby afghans, all manner of baby things but I have so much arthritis n my hands these days no matter how I do it fingers start hurting very badly. Knitting is the same for me pain *4U
Lillian I should have said , Love the cream cutwork cloth it is on as well - Sorry to hear about your arthritis -Hugs Yvonne
This is just beautiful... I bet U'r Grandmother would be amazed!!!
Sam :)
Thanks sam. I know she would b astonished at how quick we can do these things. *4U
Ibrow, I was curious to see what these designs would look like. Now I know, just lovely, you did a excellent job Ibrow, well done!
This is so pretty, I too remember my grandma making these pillow cases. Makes me wonder where they are?
Just beautiful!
Thank u & I know. I wonder about a lot of grandmother's handmades. Have no idea where they r or who got them. *4U
Just beautiful! I remember crocheting a set of these LONG ago. Gave away as usual so I don't have them. Guess now I can do it the easy way. hahaha. Great job lbrow.
Very pretty. My grandmother would have been wildly enthusiastic and have me demonstrate again and again!
LOL Mine would make me "take it out here & here sister" " See the puckers. anything worth doing is worth doing right" LOL I can hear her now. Thank u Martine *
Dear Lillian,
This is just heavenely! I wouldn't want to put my head on the pillow. I love these crinoline type of dresses. I always think of The King and I when the ladies of the Siamese court see the Ambassador with the eye glass and all bow and of course they don't have proper undergarments on underneath the skirt. I always wanted a dress like this when I was young. I should have been born last century!
I can just see all you southern belles in dresses like this. My grandmother would also marvel at the way in which our machines can do this sort of work.
She was my mentor and taught me all about sewing when I was a little girl. I used to sit at her side whilst she sewed on the old Singer treddle machine. Oh! the memories of being with her come flooding back - thank you for this lovely design.
Love and blessings Chris
Chris, We have so much n common where Grandmas r concerned. Mama Shufin as I called her when small never sewed on anything but the old treadle. As I grew older it was Mother Shuford. She was my Dad's mother. She had 2 daughters, neither of which ever had a girl so that's why so much time was spent on me. I look back & realize how blessed I was. Thank You much! You bring so much to our Cute family. Lillian
Blessed and spoilt Lillian and of course you were LOVED by Mother Shuford....isn't it nice to keep our memories...
Lillian, I just love the look of old world charm. I am particualarly keen on these Ladies, yes they remind me also of when I was a small girl....
I have'nt got any of these designs as yet. So I will just sit and admire yours....Very lovely.
Thanks Kezza I use to look at them on my bed as a child & wish I had a dress like that(U know how young girls dream) LOL Had alot of formals n my day for music recitals but all home made, course they were nice but never as elegant as I wanted * 4U
nice job lillian and yes my grannie would be amazed at what a machine could do now i can see her now here with me watching this one
Lillian, great work - I have been meaning to do this design - as well - now I see yours - you have inspirted me to get to it - my GM would be very amazed at this sort of crochet work - as I am sure that yours would, too. *4U
Thanks shirlene I've had the designs a while but lordy I just have such a backlog of things to do It's hard to catch up. Having to spend a lot of time working n the yrd at the present, trying to get my flower beds n good shape for the rest of the summer, doesn't leave me much time for the machine. *
