First of a pair of pillow cases I'm doing. Here she is n all her glory"The southern Belle" Grandmother use to make by crocheting the skirt after hand embroidering the top. Design is from Dainty stitches(the incredible Meims) Lace skirt alone has 31,484 stitches. The top of girl 3,909 . Did lace skirts first, sew on, then embroidery top part & cut out behind the lace skirt. I love making things that look like what they use to do when I was a young girl. I wonder what grandmother would think about the embroidery machines of today.

Beautiful! Well done! Thanks for sharing this one. Maybe I'm too young, or just out of touch with the right people, but I have never seen this done to a pillow case with the hand embroidering. Your grandma would definately be amazed at what an embroidery machine can do!

Lilian, I still have a pair of these pillowcases my Mom made me when I was a child. The cases are pretty fragile, so I keep them stored in sealed plastic bags. I actually used to use the stuff Mom made me, so you know how "holey" it is, hee hee hee. What a kick to see this done on a machine. Mom of course did it all by hand. Good work, Lil!! Love, Marji

Lillian, this is beautiful, well done. Your Granmother would not beleive that a machine can do all this, it must have taken her so long to do hers by hand. (I still love to do hand crochet work) *4U Hugs Yvonne

Dear Lillian,

This is just heavenely! I wouldn't want to put my head on the pillow. I love these crinoline type of dresses. I always think of The King and I when the ladies of the Siamese court see the Ambassador with the eye glass and all bow and of course they don't have proper undergarments on underneath the skirt. I always wanted a dress like this when I was young. I should have been born last century!

I can just see all you southern belles in dresses like this. My grandmother would also marvel at the way in which our machines can do this sort of work.

She was my mentor and taught me all about sewing when I was a little girl. I used to sit at her side whilst she sewed on the old Singer treddle machine. Oh! the memories of being with her come flooding back - thank you for this lovely design.

Love and blessings Chris

Chris, We have so much n common where Grandmas r concerned. Mama Shufin as I called her when small never sewed on anything but the old treadle. As I grew older it was Mother Shuford. She was my Dad's mother. She had 2 daughters, neither of which ever had a girl so that's why so much time was spent on me. I look back & realize how blessed I was. Thank You much! You bring so much to our Cute family. Lillian

Thanks shirlene I've had the designs a while but lordy I just have such a backlog of things to do It's hard to catch up. Having to spend a lot of time working n the yrd at the present, trying to get my flower beds n good shape for the rest of the summer, doesn't leave me much time for the machine. *
