I have a Janome 10001 which is very fussy, and will only use janome or brother bobbinfill. I have spare spools of several other brands which I can't use!
Just to Welcome you to Cute as I see you have been given a lot of good advice from the Cute Family!
*4U!
Usually you use white or black depending on your design. I actually didn't know this when I started and thought everytime I changed the thread I had to change the bobbin to match. Boy, did I have a lot of messed up designs, and I had done a whole bunch of bobbins to match my thread. I was also putting the material and stabalizer in wrong on the hoop. I was doing it the way you do it when you embroider by hand and that was wrong. I got a lot of broken needles before someone told me what I was doing wrong.
Noveau Welcome to the cute world,we r very glad to had you with us. *
Bobbin thread unless I want color to match the item I'm embroidering on the back. *
Welcome to this wonderful group!! I would like to know what machine you have. Some machines work better with different brands of bobbin thread. Whatever you use, it should be 60 weight. H&*.
I have a Bernina 730E. My dealer doesn't carry prewound bobbins as she said only the paper ones work. Plastic doesn't. Does this make sense?
The link is where I get my prewound bobbins. Never had a minutes problem with them.
I also use my embroidery thread in the bobbin when I am monogramming on a nice set of towels. When the cost is $60+ for a set and my customers brings me lots of these, I don't want to send them back with glaring white or black bobbin thread. (now, you just discovered that I am slightly anal with my embroidery) hahaha....
Pre wound bobbins are the greatest. Such a time saver and you seem to have more on the bobbin than I can get if I wind my own. I love them. Welcome to the greatest site on the net.
Bobbin/lingerie thread, I get it from my dealer & wind my own bobbins. It comes in black or white. I don't know a source on line. This thread is much thinner than embroidery thread, and much cheaper to use! Your embroidery design won't be as stiff, because this thread is a lighter weight. Usually you only use your same-color embroidery thread in the bobbin for free standing lace. I don't even do that, if they're one sided designs. Best of luck, stop by with questions any time! We love to help newbies avoid mistakes all of us have already made! Hugs, Marji
When I took the lesson to use the embroidery machine, the instructor said always use white bobbin thread. It wasn't until I started reading on this site that people use all kinds of threads in the bobbin. I bought some cheap white thread at Wal-Mart for $1.00/large spool, and it works fine, but I've also read on this site that serger thread can screw up machines. Who knows?
Thanks! I was advised by my dealer to use the same color and to never use cheap thread in my machine as all of the fuzz is harmful.. Thanks for your response.
Hi and welcome to Cute. I use pre wound bobbins that I buy from my dealer by the box. Depends where you are throughout the world as to what is available in shops otherwise the internet. Happy sewing
Many places sale pre-wound bobbin thread, which is a great time saver.
Embroidery bobbin thread...white...google "Metro Thread" great prices, good thread
nouveau, you only use the same thread in the bobbin - if you are making FSL (Free Standing Lace) - you would use bobbin thread - most stores carry it or you can puchase it online. It is a lighter weight thread.
I use a brand recommended for my machine called Finishing Touch - I bought it online: sewingsuplywarehouse.com - 941-766-7118 in Port Charlotte, FL
