66907Hi Barb, New to this site and have been looking around a little. I can relate to the macular degeneration. Mine was discovered in 2005 at which point both eyes were "dry". Since that time my left eye has gone "wet" and I have no central vision in that eye. I get shots for it to hopefully dry it up. It works for a bit then starts leaking again. I wish you well with it and hope I have found you in time.

Thank-you for the prayers. I have no symptoms. Something told me to get an eye exam 3 months sooner than my yearly check.
The Dr.discovered it when he did the exam.

14227Oh, Barb, of course you are in my prayers! My aunt was diagnosed with this condition several years ago now, and her doctor gave her medication, and told her to take the vitamin Lutein. It came on rather suddenly, but does not seem to have progressed any since she started the Lutein & going to the eye doctor. Google everything you can about this disease, learn about it, so you have the knowledge to conquer it. Do not despair, above all, whatever the condition, FEAR always makes it worse! TRUST, hope, love, lay it on the Lord, you really WILL be ok!!! Big big hugs, Marji

Thank-you Marji for your thoughts and prayers. I have read and researched everything that I can find on this condition. I am taking the new vitamin and supplement regime that is supposed to help.
33451You have my prayers! My Mother-In-Law was diagnosed several years ago, and so far, she has had only a very little bit of change to her eye sight.I hope it is the same with you. I really don't know much about it, but I hope it is a very slowly progressing issue.

15289Barb, You will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers. This is such terrible news but the Lord is the only one that know for sure. Pray and believe that He can and will help you get through this with your sight. The Lord is a good and loving Lord and there are so many things that are progressing in the medical field daily. They treat it with laser usually n the early stages & manage to put off total loss of sight for yrs if caught n it's early stages. Of course u will b n my prayers & on my prayer list. LIllian *

There is a gene that they have associated with macular degeneration. No one in my family has had AMD to my knowledge.

145791i know how bad you feel, i had them tell me that, too, but i went to specilist who said no, it was only macular DISCOLORATION NOT the degeneration, but now i have degenerative disk disease i'll tell you, it's always something. getting old sucks.

Yes, I wear glasses but have 20/20 vision right in front of me.(No periferal vision to speak of) New things are being discovered every day. I'll be praying that this will happen in your case.
