I agree with the many comments ... a local dealer, one you can TRUST, is well worth paying a little more for a machine. Make sure they have on-going classes, with projects she can make. They usually cost, but start off right ... get expert help, and someone to call, locally, if she does have a problem. Might want to check out any local quilt guilds ... they ALWAYS have good suggestions.
I have to know I have a dealer, repair person within reach of me if I need help. Heed the advice about checking around. *
I add my comment to the others..be SURE you have a dealer that will service your machine! It is very costly to send it back to the factory even if it is still under warrenty. The dealer also offers classes to help teach you how to use all the things your machine can do. It may never need repair, BUT there are always those that slip thru the production line with a goof up! Tell your dealer what you can get the machine for somewhere else and they MAY come close to matching the price. Be sure you have figured in the shipping cost to you also. Tax will have to be paid no matter if it's from HSN or a local dealer.
I agree, she should check around and see who would service if she bought from HSN, I know my service people will not service if not bought from them.
My husband bought me the Singer 350 for christmas. This is my first machine and I love it.
I am a FAN of HSN and was a newbie when I got both of my machines from there. However; opinions will very...FIESTA ANYHOW ;D *2U
Karen, that may be a great deal on that machine - checking with a local dealer would help her decide - she needs to know who will service her machine - they all need it from time to time - maybe her local dealer would adopt her - who knows - please let us know what she decides. *4U
When I was looking for an embroidery machine, I saw a machine on the HSN and I gave it serious consideration, but I ended up buying from a local dealer. Besides servicing the machine she provides unlimited support for training and help, she knows my machine and when I call she can put a face with the name so I get more personal service. I am so happy that I bought local!
I bet she IS in a quandry--is this the same BFF that thinks Goofy is a moose? Good luck--I think you are going to have your work cut out. You should pick the machine, because you are going to be the one helping her with it. :) Aren't I a big help?
jeez hit my funny bone, I'm about to wet my pants, haven't laffed so hard in eons....
i love HSN i got my first machine from there almost like that one there but mine dont have the usb port now i have the brother ult 2001 and i like it better lol just make sure she only want 4x4 embroidery field that was my problem i wanted bigger after i used just a 4x4 now i can do 4x4 5x7 and 6x10 hsn is a great place i buy almost everything from there when i could
I am a FAN of HSN...got both of my machines from there and NEVER had a problem with them to this day ;D *2U
Before she buy's anything, she needs to check for a dealer who can/will service the machine she buys. Dealer support is very important. Computerized sewing and/or embroidery machines need qualified service people. She would spend a lot of money shipping the machine to a service center.
I have totally utilized my association with my dealer, so I would be very uncomfortable purchasing where I didn't have warranty support near. That's just me, though.
