I have been able to come off of the Hospice program since living here. So maybe there was a need to be in here, after all.

I enjoy embroidery work and have a Husqvarna Designer I machine. I haven’t been able to use it for months, but that doesn’t mean I don’t plan out projects to do. I have many projects that have been put aside for now. Just trying to get healthy enough to get have a better quality of life. They keep us busy with little projects and they are always saying I should teach the class rather than be in it, HaHa.

I was born in the USA in Littleton, Colorado. I moved to Layton, Utah when I was a teenager and married when I was 18 and raised my family of five children there. I moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1968 and lived there until 1997, when I moved back to Ogden, Utah and have lived here since then. I don’t have any pictures with me to share of the pretty mountains or lovely town that I live in. But take my word, it is lovely.

While I was raising my family, I worked full-time as a checkout cashier and part-time as a wedding reception decorator and activities coordinator. I dabbled in wedding cake decoration, some. I loved floral arranging. I had my own business as a ceramic’s teacher, in both Utah and Florida. I was a Mary Kay Cosmetic’s Dealer and won numerous awards, but no pink Cadillac. HaHa. I got into embroidery work about 1998. Some would say that I was pretty good at that, and then others would say, I never learned enough to know what I was doing. HaHa.

Here is a recent picture of me taken just this past week

Dear Loretta,
You are often in my thoughts and prayers. I thank you for the stories of your life and of Ogden, Utah. My in-laws were living there when my husband and his sister were born. Sorry, but I do not have photos of the lovely mountains, either.
Your life is an inspiration to us. Thank you for sharing.

I am new here but, I just wanted you to know you sound like someone that could teach us all a lot about crafts. You and I have a lot in common as far as crafting goes. I hope you continue to get better and are able to start back embroidering. Just keep your faith and God will get you thru. Miracles happen I know because my granddaughter is one. God does answer prayers. Nannie Sara

Miss Loretta, thanks for a small snipet of your life, as I am sure there is so much more...You are looking mighty fine in your photo...Would you believe my very first job was a check out chic as they call 'em. I was only 15 and they wanted me to enter the fastest check out chic competition but I was very shy so said no, they also wanted me to take over learning the office work and have the keys well that scared me even more, it was humbling to know how they trusted me at such a young age.
I also sold cosmetics, Nutri Metics. My Mum taught me to sew and have never looked back. I won first prize in grade 6 for making a pair of shorts for myself and they were made by hand would you believe...That was a wonderful feeling pity I don't still have the shorts. All my sewing smaples are gone also. I have been married for 37 yrs and have a son and daughter and 2 grand daughters. This site is my home away from home and very addictive. I look forward to seeing your next project and I am sure you should be the teacher where you are...Stay well, all my love from Australia also...hugs Kerry

Loretta, thank you for updating us. Your photo is great. Glad you are off Hospice. That means you have to start working out with therapy. Truly wheelchair or not, do it!!!! My Mom turned 100 yrs old in May and has been off and on Hospice so many times, I can't count. It helps with cost of medication, but does not give physical therapy. Unfortunately, she is back on again. She fell in Nov. 2008 and broke her femur bone next to hip. Fortunately she had a Dr. that operated on her and we have had this many blessed months with her. One Dr. just wanted to keep her sedated and put her on a feeding tube. We love you, please stay in touch when you can. Love, Kay

OH Loretta, you sure are a sight for sore eyes - I am glad to see that you followed through on the challenge I made to you about posting your portrait - following in in Sylvie's footsteps - it is good to hear about your life - like this. And I know more of the story of the man following you around - than the others - should I tell? Hehehe! Why wouldn't he - you are a very pretty woman. I love all the comments from others and hope you get back soon to read them, too. *4U

Beautiful Lady Loretta, I sat here just looking at your photo and feeling so good the tears welled up and rolled down my cheeks, such is my happiness at seeing you here and reading your bio.

My last husband had a double block of land in Port Charlotte and we visited there in January 2000. I loved it so much I wanted us to build a house and move there. It was never meant to be, but somehow, now, it makes me feel even closer to you as I can visualise the township where you lived.

I have seen documentaries about places in Utah and remember it as being exceptionally beautiful, I am so glad you live in such a beautiful place.

I share your love of ceramics and also was once a beauty Counsellor for a cosmetic company and did wedding catering for a time too.

Isn't it funny how so many of us women find we have travelled the same paths and enjoyed the same professions and here we are now, drawn to each other in friendship, across thousands of miles, through this wonderful technology.

Please don't ever stop planning your next project, perhaps you could get Shirlene to help you work on something occasionally when she comes to visit you.

Well dear Lady Loretta, it is way past my bedtime now so I must say Good-night from Australia. I will go to bed with this very happy feeling after seeing your beautiful smile and talking with you again.

God Bless you Beautiful Lady, keep smiling.
Hugs n roses, Meganne

Oh, Loretta, how wonderful to hear about your very full life!! Thank you so much for telling your story here! You have been such an inspiration to me, I'm so glad you're getting stronger and at least planning projects on your embroidery machine. As for that man that keeps following you around, are you going to get a flat tire on your wheelchair and let him catch you, hee hee hee? Pretty darn good, to be a "man-magnet" at 81, Loretta!! But then, you are such a Cutie, in so many ways. I love you, Marji
