Looks like we are turning into a recipe collecters forum.
Well for my two pennys worth
Baked potato and a choice of fillings
Pasta
Pizza
Salads
sausage plait - looks good before cutting up
Soup and fresh rolls
etc, etc
or make something up.
All of the above can be vege or with meat and all will not break the bank
Yes this is now making me feel hungry so I will close and go and eat...
Look forward to hearing what you decided
how about making a punch for the drink and serving danish rolls. this would be fairly easy. If you have a bakery outlet you might get the rolls fairly cheap.
I did decide to do a punch..thank you
I have to be the cookm and server...need little things, but am really sick of all the doughnuts and all....
What about Lasagne or Vetkoek and mince , made the day before and just heat it up next morning. Love Marie
Lasagna would be expensive the way I make it...besides it has such a high calore intake and I don't think I could bake quite that much at once....thanks for the suggestion
Oh my - you better invite Jesus - I never could figure out how they know how to feed a big group. Hehehe! *4U
Definitely Jesus is going to be there...sure was hoping he would get this figured out for me....I am not really grreat at big big things.....
Sausage Sizzle, Fry or bake or BBQ sausages, put sauce or gravy a sausage (onion) on a slice of bread, diagonally & fold up. I like mine with Onion Gravy which can be made the day before & when the Sausages are nearly cooked finish by cooking in the gravy. Hope you understand this
I had thought of doing bbq meatballs and sausage dogs cut up...some veggie sticks with a dip.
You have your work laid out for you! Whew! But I know all will enjoy it. I have done both the breakfast cass. & the one using sliced bread. The sliced bread is the easier of the two, I think. And everyone at our church loves sausage balls. The recipe is on the Bisquik box. Easy. Can bake ahead & warm up if you want. Or make the balls ahead of time and bake them at church. If you can't find the recipe, PM me.
Oh, you're all making me hungry!!! I think if we ever had 850 people at church I'd fall over in a dead faint. Um, even the 85 would be amazing. 8 or 5, or even 8+5, that's do-able, hee hee hee. Hey, we're Anglicans, if we had 850 people the back of the church isn't big enough. Chris, you may get that one, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji
OUR CHURCHES GOAL IS TO REACH 1000 UNCHURCHED RESIDENTS IN OUR GENERAL AREA...UNFORTUANETLY MOLALLA HAS BEEN RATED AT 80% OF POPULATION HAS, IS OR IS MAKING METHA AND DRUGS....PEOPLE TO RATIO WE ARE CONSIDERED THE HIGHEST IN THE STATE...iT IS SO SAD THAT SO MANY PEOPLE ARE ON IT....
I found another recipe for Apple Dumplings that uses granny smith apples, crescent rolls and mountain dew and sugar and butter.
Where is the proper place to post this recipe?
This would require serving in a small dish with a spoon - would be good for the evening service.
Egg Bake is really tasty can be made the night before. With or with meat
The recipe is so short I'm posting it here:
Hot Cheese English Muffin Tidbits
1 1/2 c. grated sharp cheese
1 1/4 c. Helman's mayonnaise
1/2 med. purple onion (grated or chopped fine.)
1 pkg. English Muffins (cut each 1/2 into fourths)
Broil--serve hot
These are a HUGE Hit when you need something for guests.
What about a Breakfast Casserole. I have a recipe you can mix up the night before and cook the next morning, 30 minutes. It has eggs, sausage, etc.
I called my sister and found out she got the recipe from Food network...I have posted it in Personals..under Camylow's 2nd request!!!
WOW 850 peoople I am jealous of that many. How wonderful. We would be lucky to have 40 at our church every Sunday except for Baptisms then it swells. I hope it all goes well for you.
We don't celebrate Father's Day till the first Sunday in September here in Australia.
Love and blessings Chris
We also have sausage rolls and little party pies - not sure what you call them in America but they are miniature meat pies. Love and blessings Chris
Just had another thought on the stratta recipe...my sis did one that she called french toast...same idea but added pecans and maple syrup!!
The old standby breakfast casserole that you make the night before and then bake the next morning might be easy enough. With that many people to serve your church has to have kitchen facilities so that you could bake it at the church.
There are all sorts of recipes using crescent rolls, but that could get expensive since you would have to have several for each person.
I also have a recipe that uses english muffins.
This is not the correct proportions, but you mix Helman's mayonaise, chopped red onions and cheddar cheese. Spread on 1/2 of english muffin and "toast" then cut into fourths. They are sooooo yummy! PM me and I'll give you the correct recipe - or if enough want the recipe I can try to post it here in Q&A.
Good Luck
Sounds delicious - yes please can you send it to me as a PM. Love and blessings Chris

Hi Barb, this sounds great too. Have you got the recipe for this one too. Thanks love and blessings Chris
