Mary, I embroider on leather all the time - I use a LEATHER needle - but a #14 would work as well - now why are you doing a banner - in leather - that is very expensive - why not use broadcloth or even cotton? You can use any stabilzer that you want - leather is nice and thick - but needs something to cushion it so that the stitching will not go deep inside of it - are you planning on stitching pictures of all their cars, too? What a undergoing you have taken on. Good luck! *4U
The only reason I am using leather is because I have so much of it. We bought several yards when we were restoring an old willy's truck. But my hubby was always getting deployed overseas so we sold the truck and when I was cleaning out stuff in the garage I found it. So what do you mean by it needing some kind of cushion. I have already digitized their numbers and tested on felt looks good if I say so myself. The cars will only be the outline (working on that) I will mirror the cars since the only difference are the numbers. I will add the sponsors names and my gdsons names. But I will accept any suggestions. I also have fabric that is like what they use for awnings, any suggestions for that. I will probably try on that first. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
