No, I haven't, but I do wish you good luck!!! I had a tooth with an abcess pulled without any anesthetic because the antibiotic didn't touch the abcess, and I was thoroughly tired of the pain! Not a procedure I'd recommend, though, hee hee hee. I can't tolerate novocaine, either. Besides, it doesn't work when you have an abcess, that's why it has to be cleared up first. Best of luck to you, hope somebody comes along that has had the desensitizing done. Hugs, Marji
Thanks for the info. I hope they don't have to pull mine since I have 3 with acesses. OUCH
I had to have medicine drops under the tongue, every day for two years, supposedly to de-sensitise me from all my allergies. It cost a small fortune and at the end of the treatment I was still allergic to everything the same as before.
For me it was a total waste of time and money. ah, ah, ah, choo!
But in all fairness, that was 22 years ago and there have been great improvemnets in this area since then.
I really sympathise with your teeth problem.
It took over twelve months, many courses of triple strength, anti-biotics and lots of surgical procedures (under general anaesthetic) before the dentist finally cleared up my jaw infection. I also ended up losing seven teeth and now have dentures both top and bottom.
I certainly pray you fair better than I did.
hugs n roses, Meganne
ME TOO. Because since I have sjorgrens syndrom I have constant dry mouth and they don't think they could ever get dentures to work for me.Thats why we are doing all of this other stuff trying to save my teeth.
Chris has told u what u probably will have. sometimes this work sometimes it doesn't. Hope things work out well for u. Lillian *
Thanks but I think this will be a little different. They will be injecting me with the meds I am allergic to every 15 minutes to see how high of a dose if any I can tollerate.I had never heard of this befor I started having dental problems. Azpack had always worked on infections up to now.
Dear NMM,
I haven't gone through a desensiting, but I know I had to go through something similar when I came out in swelling and welts from an anti-biotic. All they had to do was give me an anti-histamine and the welts disappeared in a couple of day. I'm not sure if you are going to have some sort of scratch test or not. It's a process whereby they scratch the skin and place the allergen on and place a barrier over it (maybe a patch of some kind). My daughter had to go through a test similar to that as she had some sort of reaction to a medication. Good luck with whatever the outcome.
Love and blessings Chris
Thank Chris. I have already done the skin test 3 times over the last 5 years. Now the problem is I am allergic to all of the antibiotics and we need to find a different one to use for a dental infection. I have 7 different teeth that have to be worked on and 2 and maybe 3 of these teeth have abcess pockets. We tried the 1 antibiotic that I don't react to but it has not helped clear the infection at all. I am also allergic to novacain and all of the meds in the cain family. The dentist is searching for a place where I can go , be put in the hospital and have my dental work done while under general anasticia. But first we have to get the infection cleared up. Since they like to use Clindamicin for dental infections they are going to try to desensitize me to this med. I have to go to Little Rock to the Allergy the Allergy wing of the hospital to have this done. I just wondered if anyone had had this done and did it work. Thanks Paula
