I haven't done any yet because of the reason mentioned. I love the look I see in stores but won't pay the price. If there is an easier way to sew the side seams back together I'm all ears.
It's not that bad especially if you only do at the knee. The ones that I did are capree's and I only took out 10-12"
The inside seam shouldn't be that big of a deal to undo. It is usually just a straight seam with some overcasting/surging on the edge. If there is top stitching to worry about, check the outside seam. If both have top stitching, choose another pair to work on! =]
work on! =] I haven't done any jeans yet because I am 21 weeks pregnant (with twins) and don't have the energy to sew anything I can't wear now, and don't have the motivation to do so much work on something I will only be able to wear for a couple months. =D Come May, I might just manage to get to work on something, ok Jrob?
I made a couple for my daughter and a few of her colleagues some two years ago. Taking out the seams and stitching them in again takes some time away from embroidering. Only problem is to get the same colour and thickness of thread for topstitching the seam.
I tried it on my grand daughters. It was so much trouble to open the inside seam and sew it back up. I probably won't do it again. They look nice and she like them. Sorry my camera was on the blink when I did them and don't have a pic.
My mother bought me my first machine when I was 13 years old, so I became quite proficient at taking out seams....haha. It really doesn't bother me. Maybe your granddaughter will wear them over some time and you can share with is.
