I switch out all the time as I like to do multiple projects including upholstery work. I keep my gently used needles in an empty Eclipse mint box (they are metal)that I inserted a foam piece into. Labeled the boxes with size and type of needles for easy locating. Hope it helps.
I like the Organ's needles I brought from Japan last trip. I havent change the needle in my machine ever since! Hugs, Yoriko
I also have Bought the Organ Needles, I purchased them from wwwdiscountembroidersupply.net They have great prices and they also carry the titanium needles. You might look them up.They carry other brands also.
Françoise dear, I just put them pack in the compartment or package they came in - it has all the info I need - if I have more than one - I always put the used one on the left. *4U
I can't add a thing to what the gals already have told you so here is flowers for all
francoisen I have this little plastic doohickey with lttle tiny drawers in it. a label on ea. drawer says, metallic, Schmetz, organ & iniversal. that keeps me straight. when I buy, they go in drawer where they belong. *4U
I have Janome, Schmetz, and Organ, and I like them all. To keep them separate, I just keep them in the package they came it, too. That way it says on the package what they are. Janome's sizes are color coded. I find I like the Organ titanium, even though they are more expensive, they stay sharp for a long time. For embroidery, use an embroidery needle, and for metallic thread use a metallic needle to avoid breaks. I'm sure others will come along that have more detailed information and more experience. My Janome 300E is just not a fussy machine when it comes to needles, thread, anything. It just works! Hugs, Marji
Francoisen, My needles of choice are Schmetz embroidery needles, I mostly use 75's, and 90's. I have made a color chart for all my different needles, as I have three machines. When I get a packet of needles I use a sharpy to make a line of color across the top of the needles in the pack. I have heard some people say they use fingernail polish to mark different needles. Hope this helps. Oh the 75 and 90 machine embroidery needles are both marked red. I put a black mark above the red mark on the 90's. H&*.
My machine manual has the list for what I need. I keep mine in the packet they are in and all go in an old glasses case, bought organ needles and have no problems with them.
