Hi Cities I'm so sorry to b a pain again as I already posted & just read some 1 elses post with the same problem

Each time i download any file it appears to b a page icon not the usual embroidery icon, I have tried t change the name of file & also added "zip" on the end & still no luck - 1 of the designs is the doll - I think by Molly ? & it is still icon that looks like a page with the top corner turned a bit - I have lots of designs now showing this icon - when I open it it says windows can't open file.
The file can't be corrupt because I have noticed a few Cuties have used it & uploaded pics in the projects Im getting really fustrated :-(

Oh, don't you just hate it when you can't even blame it on the computer or the operating system, just the operator? Hee hee hee, glad it was nothing serious. It's one of those "learning experience" things. Glad you got it solved!! Hugs, Marji

perhaps your embroidery program is an older version. For instance I had Pe-design(that's for Pes format)in version 4. and all the time I couldn't open my files. Now I have version 7 and no problems anymore. *4u

My3 I sincerely hope u have solved your computer problems with the QTs help. Nothing can be more frustrating than dealing with the computer & not being able to embroider what u want to *

If your computer is windows Vista, God Bless your Heart. My friend computer is Vista and she got a emb machine and we had to set up her Ped Basic and believe me I never got so frustrated in my life. I dearly despise Vista. I suggested to my friend that she buy Windows XP and install on her computer. I could not get any where with her downloads. Hope you find a way thru this.

Vista is arguably the dumbest Windows yet. I don't know what possesed them to bring it up quick and dirty, but it has more bugs and just plain idiotic ways of doing things than I could ever imagine! Maybe they'll trade it for Windows 7 for you? It couln't be worst (could it?). I won't give up XP for anything. Good luck, Wendy, maybe you'll get used to going the long way around the barn to do simple things, sheesh. Hugs, Marji

Is this happening to you on more than one site? Also when I fixed mine I added .zip with a period in font of it. I put it directly after the 4x4 that was already on the name/title. Then it turned into a zip icon instead of a page and I just unzipped it. But, I have another file that my daughter downloaded last spring sitting on my desktop and I can't get rid of it. The computer doesn't know what it is and won't let me delete it. It also looks like a page of paper but the .zip trick didn't work. It was for school and is not an embroidery file. I have a computer science husband and really smart kids so I have no idea what to do with it.

Don't you just hate computers sometimes? Can you drag it to the trash? What kind of file extension does it have? Maybe it's something another file needs to be able to run? Good luck with it...Hugs, Marji

sewmom by sewmom 24 Aug 2009

Nope, can't drag it. Can't click and say delete. Haven't figured out what program would open it. AHHHHHHHHHHH!

If it's an embroidery file, a stitch file with an extension like PES, JEF, HUS, etc., Windows can't open the file, you need an embroidery program to do that. You can use a free program like Wilcom's or Pulse Ambassador to see the way the stitch-out will look. Good luck, Marji

Ji thank you for such a quick respone - I can open the file with Pulse Ambassador & everything is fine but..... when I put the design on my memory card & thin into my machine it says incorrect formatt & I have done it correctly in Jef & hen it formattes my memory card & I have used 3 different ones now !!!! I'm puzzled !!! mostly because previously I download a design it has the usual icon but anything i download now just looks like a page - What has happened to the usual icons ??? oh damn I feel such a pest xxxxx

marjialexa by marjialexa 24 Aug 2009

Oh, you're not a pest! I think some setting got changed in your computer, how it downloads files, or something. Now you've got me way out of my element! Sorry I can't help you more on this, but my late husband came in very handy for these kinds of problems. He was the computer genius, I just work the software. I can't even convince my laptop that I'm allowed to save to a DVD-RW, how bad is that? It told me I'm not an authorized user. I yelled at it and said, "I paid for you, you miserable so and so, I most certainly AM authorized!" Didn't work. Hee hee hee, I sure hope somebody comes along to help you, your settings got changed somehow, I think. Hugs, Marji

marjialexa by marjialexa 25 Aug 2009

Aha, I have a diagnosis for you!! It's called "Windows Vista"! Sorry about that, I don't have and won't have Vista. I refused to buy a computer unless it had XP on it. Vista won't run my Janome Digitizer Pro. You'll have to get help from someone who uses the Vista platform, because now I'm really lost, I'm so very sorry! Hugs, Marji
