Quilting is my absolute favorite. I, like you, had done nearly everything else and took a class about 10 years ago and haven't looked back since. It really works well with embroidering, too. You are going to have soooooo much fun!!!!;)
I am, just do not have enough time at the moment, but have decided from now on I am going to lock my doors, and work only on my quilt. LOL
Someday I might attempt it too. You have fun learning something new.
Not might !!!! You must !!! it is really nice to do. Just make sure you have plenty of time. LOL
Hugs and God bless.
I know where you are coming from... I too was the same & went to a quilting class for 6 weeks. It was the BEST 6 weeks I ever thought I could have. I always wanted to do it & tried by myself for a while with no real success... I went, I saw, I became an Addict!!!! Most of us people that have a love of fabric, end up an addict to one or more things....LOL I know I'm right there!!!!!
The biggest part of learning is that 1/4".... you will end up living by that 1/4" for the rest of your days...hehehehe
From another Sewing/embroidering/needleworking/fabric loving Addict....Reggie
Don't tell me about that 1/4" !!!!!! I have even bought myself a 1/4" presserfoot for my machine, because here we work in centimeters, but have to quilt in inches, oh my goodness!!!!. All our patterns comes from overseas.
Am having a problem with time at the moment and am verrrrrry frustrated.
Will try to post my quilt on projects as soon as possible.
Hugs and God bless. Marietta
Hey Marietta, did you see our group's finished quilt in projects?
At least I have learnt how to do a rag quilt, and how each block really must be square and equal in size or it just don't work! LOL!!!
If you join Love's embroidery we have just finished getting all the blocks for a Christmas lap quilt and soon we will be strating on a man's quilt.
It's still not too late to get the designs, but you need to write to Barbara directly (once you have joined) and tell her your format so she can send them to you.
I haven't finished mine yet but I have all the material in readiness to start, probably tomorrow.
hugs n roses, Meganne
Hello there Meganne, I am so sorry I missed the posting of your quilt, as things went a little bit awry here by me, and I could only just come for glances at Cute for a while. My mom and dad both got sick within one week, and it has been one big rush around.
However, thanks for posting this, as I went to projects at once, and what a lovely surprize. I have been thinking of you and your quilt too.
What a beautifull quilt it turned out to be. I looked at it more than once. You are one up on me now, because you can make a rag quilt, that I will try to do later, but first I must finish mine, and hope it will be as beautifull as yours.
I am going to go in to see Love's embroidery group now. Thanks for the link.
Keep up the good work.
Hugs and God bless.
Marietta
Hi Marietta, I had been a sewer for 40 years and one day decided to try quilting and did a simple squares connected then the hand sewing, LOvED it so made a simple triangle cut pieced together that turned out nice. But my favorite part is the hand sewing lol I MUST keep my hands busy while sitting in front of the tv at night.
Enjoy your lessons and we wait to see your finished project!!
Hello dollygk, I am trying very hard to get to work on my quilt, and do not feel I am getting anywhere at the moment. Since I started such a lot of things happened here by us, that I had to stop working for a while. Looks like everything is falling in to place here again, and I hope to really be able to start in earnest again. Cannot wait !!!
Will post it in projects for sure.

Sounds like fun, and I'm sure you will have fun, keep us updated please.
Marietta, good luck with your quilting classes, hope you have lots of fun and learn alot - Hugs Yvonne
Mariette it can become VERY addictive. I have done 1 in JHB and my next 1 will be in Durbanville.Think I should rather do it next year. Sterkte hoor
Dankie Marthie. I saw your quilt in projects, and it is very cute. Looking forward to meeting you. Hugs. Marietta
Marietta, hope you enjoy your class. I didn't know much about quilting till I moved to Kansas from San Diego. Here with not much to do in a small town I joined 2 different quilt Guilds and have been learning a lot from the other ladies. Now I am asked by some of them to help them with their quilts. It's a lot of fun.
Oh, Marietta, I hope you have fun with quilting! Don't be like me, and take the class and keep asking "but why can't we do it THIS way, it'd be so much easier?"--you'll get whacked with a quilting ruler, hee hee hee. I think quilting is lots of fun, whether you do it traditionally, or the machine quilted sandwiches in the hoop. Do have lots of fun with it!! Hugs, Marji
Thanks Marji, hope not to get whacked with quilting ruler, because I can be quite headstrong, especially if I can do it faster. LOL.
Marietta, how exciting for you - wished I were there going along with you - perhaps you can update us enough - that I will like like I am - can't wait to hear how it goes for you. I'll pour me a cup and wait for news. Good luck, dear one. *4U Shirlene
Thank you Shirlene, I will try to keep you up to date. Drink a cuppa for me too. Hugs and God bless. Marietta
Wonderful! It is such a pleasure to blend colors and patterns into new creations. And I dound when I added ME, just wow. Fun. You will so enjoy the journey. Good luck and keep us all informed of your progress and happiness.
Jo
Hi Jo, thanks for all the nice sites, I will definitively, go there to see. I have actually also collected the snowmen. Think they are so cute. Will let you know how things progress, Will just have to MAKE time for all of this.
never did a quilt too, so I'm curious how your class will be, please give an update and have fun!
Marietta you sound as excited as I was when I joined a quilting class.
I've been doing needlecrafts for (hmmm!) 55 years (ouch!) and also had never done a quilt. Anyway, Pauline, (nonna57) told me about a group starting up to make quilts for the bush fire victims and I could learn as we go. So far only had one class and can't wait for the next one.
Maybe we can share our experiences together as we go?
Anyway I do hope you have a great time learning and making new friends.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
I am soooo excited Meg, and would love to share my experiences with you. I have Thuesdays off for a while, as my class on this day consists of Indian ladies, and they have a 6 week holiday because of Ramadaan. So this will have to be my quilting days.
Hugs and God bless.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I just love quilt making from the time I start to choose the pattern to the touch of the fabric. The only bad thing about it is finishing. I feel let down for a few days until I can begin again.;)
I am sure I am going to love it Jerrilyn, and like your idea of choosing the pattern to touch of fabric. Enjoy your quilting too. Hugs and God bless.
marietta, I hope you enjoy the quilting class as much as I enjoy them. I love making quilts, I have made several now and they are treasures to my kids. I enjoy the class mostly because of the getting together with others with the same passion as well as the project we will be working on. I have taken several for different reasons. Learning how to piece a quilt together, top quilting and so on. They are fun!!! ENJOY!!!
