Oh My Goodness!!! OH My Goodness!!!!!
You people have Tables and Floors showing????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You call that 'Messy'????
You ain't seen nothin' yet!!! Well......... maybe 'hogfan's' room is a close relative of mine and maybe I have a corner or two similar to 'louise2333's' corner. At least, I do know that there are four corners in my sewing room and one, at the moment, has a half-constructed metal shelving unit for notions and 'things' but if one wanders far into my sewing studio one is in grave danger of becoming lost while the rest of the world skips on happily by.
My Big Question is ....... how did I accumulate so much stuff? Am I addicted to stitching stuff or just in possession of a very bad memory that lets me buy things I already have just because I might have use of them in the distant future?
And those shopping totes full of half-made blocks of new projects with extra fabrics to use in future blocks. I could pave a patio with them!!!
Before I retired six years ago I had such a lovely, neat, 'show anybody' sewing room. Now, she who dares to enter walks where angels fear to tread!!!
AlmaG.
My Sewing Room. These pictures I loaded before.
Will take a new picture, as I have had the floor redone.
Hugs Yvonne
Anyone want to add to this post?
Maybe I should post a update. I had to laugh when I checked out my pictures. It is no longer so neat looking since I got into quilting and scraps of material and boxes of stash material has been added along with 2 machines and cabinet style tables. BUT I LOVE IT.
Small but SWEET ;D Since my DH bought me my Dressform, it seems like it's a GREAT place to pin my projects for a photo session...LOL I am LQQKing forward to my BIGGER room soon. I've enjoyed seeing your rooms. Let's FIESTA! ;D
Great new dress form. I hope you enjoy it. Looks like you have everything you need here.
Thanks! It doesn't take long before I wind up in this room. I just need to figure out how to add me some ironing space and I am really set ;D *2U

you can't be serious.......
this has to be a shop not a home......
oh so/sew very lovley and plentifull
Nice to see someone who uses my Fiskars ruler with the rotary cutter attached. It is a life saver for crippled hands that can't run scissors anymore.
Love all the rooms.
SQ
My sewing area has been remodeled. I put a "before picture" up but when I looked just now someone else's picture is in my answer. Computer glitch?
Well, here are the new pictures. The space is the same but it's painted now, has new doors and drawer fronts, and new granite counter tops. Knobs and pulls are not on yet.
I've reorganized everything. I hate the work but highly recommend it!
My machine fits perfectly when the embroidery attachment is on so I guess I can't upgrade to something larger LOL. Someday I may get a room of my own and then I will have more counter space. For now I put a cover on the pool table to do cutting work.
This "nook" is part of the dining room so I'm still with the family while I'm crafting and sewing :)
Shushana, this turned out wonderfully. A Place for everything out of the way! *4U
I finally got all of my knobs and pulls on. They look beautiful but I can't add a picture to this section of the post.
Update: My son, who moved out for college but moved back for his Masters Degree and to get his career started, is moving out this weekend. That means a lot of my stash boxes and cabinets that are around the house can get their own room!
Here is my HOLE this is what the family call it. People ask where is Lisa they say in her hole.
First -my sewing machine and lap top
2-My 350 e and ironing board
3-Pile of UFOs
4-Cutting board
5 top of closet -not showing bottom too messy
6-shelf
That cause I cleaned it just for you guys. Not! couldnt find a thing so had to tidy a bit just good timing. It is usually really messy.
I love all that white it makes things look so bright and cheery with all of your colorful projects laying around.
I THINK YOU CAN DO MGREAT THINGS IN THIS ROOM JUST LOOK AT THE WOUNDERFUL PICTURE BEHIND YOUR SEWING ROOM
Hello everyone, well some photos of my room, as I am in the middle of moving homes there is mess everywhere and packing boxes, things that I am in the middle of etc, etc. But, already packed are a suitcase full of wool and 2 large boxes of wool, plus another 5 cartons and a bookcase to pack yet, don't we just love our craft no matter what it is. So when I move there will be another photo, lets just hope that it all will fit lololol Sheryl
Moving is a great way to have it start looking good. I bet my room will not look so neat after a couple of years in it. Boy can I iodentify with you. Moved 6 month ago from ahouse I lived in for 37 years.
Sheryl, can't wait to see what you do with all this - in the new place. *4U
I hope you enjoy organizing that new room. It is so nice to start up new, because you can organize everything exactly the way you always wanted it
I LIKE ALL YOUR STORAGE BINS I DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF ROOM IN MY ROOM VERY NICE
Okay, I had to dig around to find some appropriate pictures. I am a pack-hound, but I also feel like I'm pretty organized. I recently had a 'let's get rid of this stuff' self-party and shelled out quite a few things I knew I'd never use and have done some reorganization. My husband just recently brought the table on the right from his/our wood-working shop. He'd made it for a client and had some minor problems so remade the client's and I got the 'problem child'. Isn't she pretty.
I've got my old Necchi (bought in 1962), a serger (biggest mistake - no knowledge so I bought a 5-thread machine and only three of them will work properly), a Bernina Deco 650, and two old Singers that I personally restored. One is a 1937 electric that sews like a dream (the cabinet needs refinished). The other Singer is an 1848 that is a rare find, given it has their pheasant decal instead of their regular gold dressings. Very few were made with the pheasant according to my research. It has a floating bobbin and sits in an old White treadle cabinet. It to hums and stitches beautifully and I picked it up for $30 at a garage sale, complete with attachments.
Anyway, here's a shot. Things have changed recently but basically this is where I play.
The second picture shows the table Al made for me. I now have a much larger thread display and have moved my cutting table (neither of which show). The screen behind my Bernina conceals our huge stash of Christmas decorations - I'm looking for another storage place so I can have a larger sewing room.
Nice big room, Lucky girl.
I can't wait to have a room instead of just a space.
hugs n roses, Meganne
yours is really organized and handy....congrats...Don't worry Meganne, your time is coming and you will have a lovely big one also...
What a great room! I love the old treddle in the background. I helped my Mom make my wedding dress on an old Singer like that.
Kathy
Gosh, you have a lovely room, I also love your old tredle, I have one in my entrance hall, with everything, intact too, just love it.
Looks so organized. you can move that chair to any of the machines and sew away.
I LOVE YOUR ROOM AS YOU HAVE BOTH SIDES AND I ONLY HAVE ONE SIDE OF THE ROOM FOR MY SEWING
Here's my sewing room, my favorite spot in this house, I have a lot of fun here! :)
1&2) Where I am most of time
3) What I have behind me
4) On my right side.
Yoriko this is nice. What are you using the whiteboard for or is it not one?
Oh, I brought this from Japan, I thought I could do some private tution here. I put an ad on newspaper for Japanese lessons but I didnt work out...Thank you Angie!
Very neat and organized. Is that how you get so much work done? Does it stay this way? If I recall you just moved so you probably have to start over making a mess if you had one.
I'm so glad to see you have a nice work space, it helps keep the creative juices flowing.
hugs n roses, Meganne
:) I wouldn't show the rest of the house...it is a mess, not being my house, it's difficult for me to put things away, and get them lost, I tried, but my husband gets mad he can't find the stuff he needs, so I gave up trying to keep the rest of the house as neat as I wanted :D Of course, I clean it, but there are stuff on the way everywhere. At least my favorite space is nice :)
ok that is almost too neat....I wouldn't know where to start for fear of messing it up...Beautiful.....
This is my Craft/Grandkids Playroom. So organized and hidden I can’t find a thing without opening every drawer. Yikes. I think I will program my GPS to help me find everything. (Just kidding). The last picture is my extended craft room my garage. Now that is more like a crafters/knitters domain
You need a Labeller or a list attached to each drawer.
You sure are game letting your GK's play in there! LOL!
Hugs n roses, Meganne
Very nicely done....How do you keep it so neat with all the grandkids about...
They are more busy with the Wii and leave my stuff alone. No picture of the TV and Wii.
Meganne I made myself a chart in the meantime numbering the boxes. I change too often to attach a permanent label.
I use part of the Lounge as a HIDE OUT, because we had a baby in the house and grandma moved out to the lounge (part of it) Luckely there is enough room and lots of sunshine. Nice and warm in winter. Have no pics will send it later. Love Marie
Deanna, I posted most of these pictures last year - the space might be a bit messier than this right now - but not much - Hehehe! I have an old serger and a new - I don't know how to work either one and the little one - was trying to draw a picture of the design - as I told her that was how my friend digitized it from a drawing. Hehehe! The four closet doors hide the rest of the items - that I don't want you to view - so that is my embroidery and PC room. Hehehe, Shirlene
AHA! So the mess is all hideen behind the doors, eh???!!! LOL!!!
Nice work area Shirlene. Pity we don't live closer, I'd show you how to use your overlockers (sergers).
Hugs n roses, Meganne
so very neat and tidy...you need some hangin spool racks to show off your lovely thread that is peeking out...
Yoriko, thanks!
Meg, it is hidden behind those doors, that is what it is all about - hide what you don't want others to see.
Deanna, my thread would dry out much to quickly - if I had it all out and it would go on and on and on - I would have to get up and down too much to reach it, too. Hehehe!
Sheryl, you bet this is a large machine - I love it, too. Hehehe!
VERY NICE AND NEAT I LIKE IT THATS HOW YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT OUT SO MUCH HA
well I read once: a clean desk is a sign of a sick mind. that's why i always try to keep my desk a mess LOL.no picture added, just believe me :)
Mine Is really Just called THE craftroom because it breaths all on its own!!!!
I had put together this nice little story to go with the pictures not realizing that I couldn't put the pictures next to the wording so just bare with it I am sorry. Megan's room is so delightful awe but mine is mine and even though most would call it messy it is just a LOT of wonderful things left to be created!
And after writing this I realized that i have managed to squeeze 3 different places to sit so what does that tell you about me HA!
THE Craftroom
Enter if you dare!!!!
This room is exactly 8.3x10.2 and houses 35 years of crafting supplies plus all of Mother’s and Mother in laws old stuff!!! My camera has been dropped way to many times so the flash doesn’t work and the pictures are fuzzy sorry!
The first picture you see is all indications to run while you still can.
The next picture is directly in front of you and is of the south window and the little couch that I do my crochet at, (it is a good thing I am only 5” 1”)( and that is Booker on the couch it is really hard to see him). The next shot is the wall directly to the left of the window (we are moving anti-clockwise) It is loaded with wreaths and Florals and large wall unit of yarn (that isn’t even a fraction of my yarn) this shot is what is under the 3rd picture. Next shot is of the corner with more plastic containers than Target can carry along with baskets and tons of ribbon.
That is one of my chairs stuffed in that same corner in front of my embroidery machine all the stuff on it is for sample sew outs there is denim, broadcloth and terry and also a shot of 4 of my cabinets I made all of them from kits I got at Lowe’s.
This is the East window and the main work station along with a very bright light and my laptop. Cabinets to the right are what are underneath and you are into the 2nd corner. Yet more Plastic & labels.Top of the 2nd corner I didn’t do a good job at all of that picture HA!
Now just to the left of that corner is my sewing station all the bright lights make things awfully blurry for you but I have to have them!!! That wall unit is a smidge crooked and I used a level it was the hardest to make.
This is a shot of my embroidery machine and in the cabinet is another sewing machine plus one hiding under all the junk by the couch is another older sewing machine in a cabinet. and the last of the 3rd wall
ARE YOU READY???? This is what is behind the door and the last wall FABRIC!!!!! the two pictures belong to gether for a really big effect.
And there are more containers that you can’t see stacked on the floor underneath all of this!!!! You can’t tell it but it stretches to the ceiling!!!! I have to have a step ladder to get to the top. Plus the fact that there is another layer behind this layer that you see HA!
Now if you can find your way out ....... RUN!!!!!!!
Love your sense of humor and your willingness to share the room. I bet you know exactly where everything is too. I'm supposed to go through my stuff, weed things out, and reorganize when the remodel is done. But then how will I know where everything is? My brain has stored the info for so long I don't think it can re-boot.
You could open your own fabric and notion store. Great story and pictures. *4U
You are a girl after my own heart. If the economy is bad you can still keep yourself entertained and busy. You go girl.
I wanted to thank all of you for the nice comments I was nearly afraid to post knowing that mine wouldn't even get close to the beautiful and neat ones . 50% of the stuff came from when both my mother and mother in law past away within 6 months of each other and both being very crafty ladies and I only kept part of it the rest was given to the local senoir citizens group looks like I may need to do that again here soon HA!
The fabric wall shelving unit is actually anchored to the wall because it kept falling!!! I wish I knew how to quilt so I could use it up HA! I told
Wal-mart (back when they had fabric departments) that I had as much fabric and stuff as they did and they never believed me.
hogfan, you win, hands down!! I've had mine look like that but about four months ago held a 'let's get rid of this' party and shelled out stuff I knew I'd never use. At least I tried . . . it's hard to give away some things. I'm getting ready to show pictures of my snake hole (sure hope that doesn't stick).
Oh my goodness, What a STASH!!!
I must tell you my room is only neat because I buy on an "As Needed" basis only, so I really don't have much of a stash. Lots of threads now and I have laces, ribbons, zippers, elastic, & buttons etc. But very little material.
All my sewing in the past has been for practical purposes, no quilting, no embroidery until 18 months ago, so my "stuff" has only been growing substantially since then.
I envy those of you who can just go to a cupboard and pull out material to make something, truly, I do.
And I can't wait to have a room where I can walk out, close the door and leave the mess behind me. I'll post pictures then. LOL!!!
hugs n roses, M
LOLOl, sorry, but this looks like a treasure waiting to be found and looks like a shop I know of
I guess i am blessed. And the fact that I didn't have to buy most of it it was free!!
And it is great when you are tired to just close the door and leave everything the way you left it until your next trip in. I used to have a little corner in the bedroom that I stashed stuff. Then My daughter got married and I got her room it was a bit empty at first and well, the rest is history HA!
I WOULD GET LOST IN HERE IN A GOOD WAY I LOVE TO DIG THROUGH OTHER PEOPLES STUFF AS WHAT THEY SAY IS JUNK I THINK IS A GOLD MINE LOOKS LIKE A NICE ROOM TO ME
OK YOU GUYS...HERE IS MY TEMPORARILY INSANITY ROOM BEFORE i CLEAN IT...will post a clean room soon hehehe.... mind you my excersice chair is now my catch all...(has been for a very long time)
I often wonder what i would do with all of your open space and then i remember my room and i Know!HA!
A lot of space. That's wonderful. The stuff on the exercise chair could go in the bassinet and then you could use it, maybe. Unless there is a baby, or maybe you're making a gift? I like the computer next to the machine. My computer is shared by the family and is on a desk in the living room.
Well - I see you did post yours - oh no - that means - I have to post mine. Hehehe!
the bassinette is a work in process to get done by 2 months...In fact the whole darn nursery needs to be done. ickes....no I do not use the chair...are you kiddin'''too much work for me to unload it and put it back on.hehehe as far as lots of space..that's our bedroom living space...not suppose to be my sewing room
Looks like you could do with a built in cabinet, (for storage) along that wall.
I love your twin tables.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
Oh my goodness were those a steal....I went to look for folding tables $60.00 average...as I was walking out a lady we knew told me she thought there was some on clearance...When she showed me this table it was $15.00...The very next morning I went and picked up the other one...so for the 30.00 i got the 2 instead of a rickety ole folding table...they are 54"x36" each..In actuallality they are kitchen farm dinning tables.....heavy and strong...
Uhhhhhh, bad time to ask. It's remodeling time. No cupboard doors or machines. I didn't take a picture of the piles of things that go in these cupboards. Machines are on the pool table right now (with a a table cover so I can use them). Will get new counter tops. The cupboards were stained brown but we painted them to match the rest of the room. This is all part of a "great room", dining, kitchen, living room all in one.
Someday, maybe, I'll have a room of my own. Right now all of the kids have there own room and my husband has first dibs for an office if a child ever vacates permanently. But, working out by the family has its advantages too.
Although most of my supplies fit in my cupboards, my fabric stash has several plastic drawers that currently live in my bedroom.
When I'm working I get messy, that's a down side to being connected to the dining room etc. My ironing board is usually up all of the time when I really should put it away. My cutting boards go in the hall closet because it's big enough. I also have boxes of patterns in the garage.
Shushana, can't wait to see how your fill these cabinets and shelves up - lovely space. *4U
I truly understand how you feel. It is difficult working when you have to put everything away each day and drag it all out again the next morning. I love the look of your cupboards, great storage and white is so fresh.
I kept saying that very same thing about the vacant bedroom, but I have Ray's 90 y.o. Mum living with us so still no spare bedroom. The third bedroom houses all our computer equipment and books. It's very small.
Our day will come! LOL!!!
Hugs n roses, Meganne
oh my, I can just picture all the beautiful fabrics placed in those cabinets....
My hideout is visible to everyone as it is the back veranda sunroom. This video was taken July 2008 and there has been much more 'stuff' crammed into it since then, including an exercise bike and two more embroidery machines.
I've added a video of my thread storgae rack, made by DH, it too is now much fuller than it was back then and I've also hung all my new presser feet on the peg board behind it. It is really handy.
hugs n roses, Meganne
What a lovely room, Meganne, and you can work in the bright sunshine! Green with envy, here in Dreary Erie. I love the tubes in the thread rack, keeps the thread from dust and drying, right? Talented Ray, to make that for you! Hugs to you all, Marji

Only problem is, it is so narrow, (much smaller than it looks) barely room for my chair between machine and wall, and I have nowhere to cut out patterns so I still have to use the dining room table.
Now if we could get Nonna to show off her sewing room.... I truly envy her space.
HNR, M
Nice room. I like the TV in view of the sewing machine. I can hear my TV but can't see it from my vantage point.
I just realized that it is a video. This is great. The storage for you thread is awesome.
aw Meganne, do you really want a room as hectic as mine....I think the buy as needed is great...Unfortuanetly I get too carried away with buying I come home with fabric and find out I alrady have some of the same pattern....
Ok, here is mine! I don't think any others will be as messy as this one. I am getting ready for a craft show in a couple of weeks. Ok ladies lets see some others. Louise
I may have you beat for messy, Louise, because the camera refused to take a picture! Hee hee hee, it may look messy, but I'll bet you know where everything is. I think what others call "messy" is just creativity sleeping in piles on our machines and worktables. Hugs, Marji
wow you have 3 machine 1 for each needed...I have to keep transfereing back and forth with mine....
Deanna, where is your hide out? You post yours - then we will follow. Hehehe! *4U
I don't have a hide out at the moment. We are putting in new cupboards and desk (after I get the room painted.) Will post a picture when it is done.
