I hooped stickey stablizer, then placed the lining of the bag on it and ran a basting stitich around the design (all letters) to hold the 2 layers together. But the top layer is moving too much and the letters are stitching sloppy!

Thank YOU ALL for your helpful ideas!! I had to quit the project because there were 2 more items to add and the more I tried to do, the more it looked bad. Now there is the sticky stuff on the lining where the sticky stablizer was. Is there any way to remove that glue??

I took a look at your project and it is looking good. If you have another design you want to put on the bag you may want to run a basting stitch corner to corner to secure the center portion of the stitching area. It may be a bit tricky getting the basting stitches out after stitching but I would certainly give that a try.

Interesting idea, do let us know Mlbell what finally helps you to succeed! Blessings!

Wow, interesting idea! Maybe if the basting stitches were really long, they wouldn't be so hard to get out, and would do the trick. Yes, please do let us know what works, we may need it at some time or another! Hugs, Marji

I have a built in tracing line around design but do not know how to do the one through center? Mary Lou

Ask Meg to do a basting stitch for you. Click on any entry by Meg and send her a PM explaining your problem. Sorry if I'm speaking out of turn Meg but you seem to be her best solution. Whoops...just read your post in projects. If the basting doesn't work I don't know what to try next.

Oh, I know what you mean, that poly is so very slippery! And since the 2 layers are separate, you're only sticking one to the stabilizer. Try what Lilian said with the pins, don't know what else to tell you. Good luck, this will be a tough one. Hugs, Marji

Try slowing the machine down to it's slowest rate & going around just inside hoop & pinning even though u have it basted. sorry you r having problems * welcome to the cute site & there will probably be others along with good ideas for u.

Thank you for your help. I will try sewing slower, but the problem seems to be the the bottom lining is sticking to the stablizer but the outside layer I am stitching on is still looser than the lining resulting in sloppy stitches.

I uploaded a picture of the bag under projects if this would make it any easier to explain.

That is why I suggested pinning the outside layer all the way around trough the stabilizer, I know this would be difficult but if u could I believe it would stabilize the top layer.

Hoop just the stabilizer. If you have it, use sticky stabilizer. If not use a quilting spray or carefully pin the fabric to the stabilizer that's outside the hoop. Use a basting stitch if you have one, to keep the fabric from moving around in the hoop. Just like you would do towels.

Thank you, I did hoop the sticky stabilizer but the two layers are probably the problem.
