I love those peeker designs over children's pockets, but don't know how to do them with some of the design on the shirt and some on the pocket (eg the hands hanging over). Would appreciate advice.

If you remove the pocket, stitch the hands, then stitch the face on the shirt and realign the pocket when you put it back on you should be ok, just try to keep it in the same general area.....

never done something that has also a part over the pocket. I suppose you have to remove the pocket and stitch that part of the pocket later on the removed pocket. and add it later on. but there are a few good advices here already.

Jill,
I haven't actually done the pocket peekers but I have mongrammed pockets. I would first test stitch the design, they should have a color break to separate the hands. If your machine has a preview feature, page through the color steps and check. If there is a separation of stitching in the digitizing, you could stitch the upper body as usual watching the placement to ensure you are aligned just above the pocket. After stitch out, verify your placement then remove the pocket stitching up to the bar tack. Use sticky stabilizer and stitch the hands on the pocket. When you are all finished just stitch the pocket back on, placement is easy because the bartacks are never removed.
I hope this makes sense and again it is a purely hypothetical approach. Hopefully another Cutie has done this and can give you a true hands on experience. Blessings!

Yes, thank you cinderoak (and everyone else) this does seem the way to go. I will post if I get it to work. Could be a while though, work keeps getting in the way of sewing!

I have never done one with anything over the front of the pkt. I usually loosen the sides of pkt & fold the fron of it down while stitching the peeker the just position pkt back by aligning where stitches wereand stitch it back on after taing out of hoop. *

I agree, you have to remove the pocket and stitch the two parts seperatly. Mark it carefully so you can line it back up correctly. For the pocket, use sticky stabilizer in the hoop.

I agree, I think if you want the hands over the pocket, you'd have to take the pocket off to do that. Interesting question, I look forward to more input. Hugs, Marji

I've done peeking from the inside of the pocket, but not with hands hanging over. I'd think you would stitch your pocket shut with that or either have to take the stitching loose from the top of the pocket and make sure you position correctly and sew the hands seperately. Where did you find the designs? They should have some instructions with something like that.
