I think it is nice.........I have two step grandsons that speak: english,spanish and some japanese. There mother wants one to learn Russian as he is a little Russian boy.
I think it is really nice when the children speak a second language. It is really good when they have multi-lang. under their belt. Great for government jobs especially.
I will check for the photo designs. Your son is so blessed to have you, we are paying for our daughter to learn Spanish. On year 3 of courses! It is my understanding that the language brain pathways are built much easier prior to adolescence. The concept worked beautifully for us as our girl is a natural with multiple languages. I know how happy you must be to have all your family so close again! Enjoy and many blessings to you!
Their are ten siblings in my family and we only spoke Spanish at home, we had to learn English in school. It is great that we all get together on wkends. Not to mention they trust me so much with the baby they like leaving her with me and my hubby.
Not free, but what I found for you, anyway:

When I was growing up (a hundred years ago :) )my parents both spoke Italian and would not teach us kids so they could speak in front of us without us knowing what they were saying.
Years later my 3 boys each took French in school and they would speak to each other in French when they didn't want my husband or I to understand what they were saying. (They thought it was very funny) I wish I had learned a language when I was small, kudos for your son and his spouse to ask you to teach the baby Spanish. God bless to all of you :)
Don't know if the following story is true, but I heard it in a Psychology class, some years ago.
A baby was born and the large extended family decided that each person would speak to the baby in a different language as they were multi-lingual and multi-cultural. Years passed but the baby did not speak at the 'normal' age. (S)he was tested. Eventually the baby spoke in an unknown language. (S)he was again tested, and it was determined that the baby had improvised it's own 'new' language, since it felt that everyone (in it's family) spoke an individual language.
Actually, I feel like it is a nice thing to do for a child, to speak in various languages, as children can learn languages so much easier than adults. My nephew's school taught math, science and health subjects in only Japanese, when he went through school. He is fluent in Japanese and has visited Japan.
Merci beaucoup;
*4u!

Wow this was really interesting. Well around here it is normally English but I do speak Spanish, my sons understand a little Spanish and speak even less. But they would like their children to learn.
