They are only young kookaburras by the looks of them.

I took this pic while on holidays last week. It was really very exciting. Just wish I had a better camera.

what kind of meat do these birds eat in the wild?

it is minced meat, and they seem to love it.

Hi Bev - in the wild these birds eat, lizards, frogs, worms, insects, snakes etc. etc.

I feed mine Mince meat when they come to my backyard too.

Love and blessings Chris

I love Kookaburras especially listening to them laughing. They do look like young ones, they don't have the distinctive blue feathers on their faces.
thanks for sharing Kezza, reminds me I have a photo of a goanna I could share.
hugs n roses, Meganne

Oh, they're larger than I thought they were!! What fabulous pictures, and a great experience!! This kind of stuff is why I fight to stay on my farm, having all the birds and wildlife around me, and occasionally in the house, hee hee hee. Thanks so much for sharing!!! Hugs, Marji

you know only 2 days ago we had a King Parrot that flew into our kitchen, we are on ground level, he was waiting to be feed, but usually do not fly into the house...only outside.
