the competition will be stiff.

I just returned from about 30 hours in the hospital and now have doctor's orders. Started having some chest and shoulder pain yesterday afternoon and my husband insisted he was taking me in. Urgent Care did an assessment, sent me to the Emergency Room, and they admitted me for a stress test. My cardiologist came in this morning and told me the stress test wouldn't tell him what he needed to know, so he suggested I have a heart catheterization and that was done this afternoon. No problems identified!! But he sent me home on a fat-free, salt-free diet (which I have pretty much been on for quite some time), and urged me to drop some pounds. What an added encouragement.

I'll see if I can post a challenge sheet in the next couple days. I'm going to start off on the Cabbage Soup Diet first and then do an Adkins for a while. I'll see how that goes. My main problem is that I eat a lot of almonds. Unfortunately many of them have chocolate on the outside.

Thanks to all for joining in - and a very special thank you to Meganne for her wonderful suggestion.

I am happy to know that you are ok.Sandy, I don't believe in diets any more. I think I have tried them all. Since July 6 I have lost 26 pounds. Now I credit that to 30 minutes of exercise and a well balanced meal 3 times a day. Portion control and a healthy snack. It is not about how fast I can loose ,but can I sustain my weight once I lose it. I eat what I like, but I have realized that diets are only temporary and I need to learn how to eat for life.

Glad to hear that nothing serious is wrong. I am not really going to diet as such. I am going to continue to exercise every day for 30 minutes and just watch my portions on my food. Hopefully I will be able to lose some more weight.

Judy's note reminded me of something worth sharing - although I am not advising, just sharing. I suffer from RSL (restless leg syndrome), like so many others. I've been on a medicine (Requip) that they give to Parkinson's patients. About a year ago I was having some back discomfort and visited my chiropractor. He suggested I try a multi-mega mineral (available at GNC) and I have not had a problem with my legs since. Of course, my regular physician doesn't believe this, so I take it in conjunction with the Requip. What a relief not to be kicking my DH out of bed every night.

Love to all!

Sandy, praise God it is nothing more than a warning!!!! You can embrace and succeed using this challenge! I am too!
I am going to try and avoid any fad approach, planning to stick to limiting portions and moving more. Please take care of yourself and find a good vitamin supplement!

I eat the almonds too, never had them with chocolate by God's grace....no doubt that would be addictive! I buy the raw ones from Costco, 3LBS. at a time. Gee ya think that's a problem? Blessings! love, judy

Judy - I do get the raw ones from Sam's Club (Wal-Mart's Costco), but found out that M&M makes ones with almonds inside. I allow myself about one bag (less than a pound) every month or so. Actually don't 'oink' out on them that much.

Almonds are supposed to be extremely healthy and great for your heart. Guess that means that it is so easy to LOVE them.

Thanks to everyone for the support.

No competition for me Sandy I am on a perpetual diet, trying to keep off the weight I lost 2 yrs ago when I dropped the 60 lbs. I for the most part stay on low fat & drink a lot of water & eat very little red meat & almost no fried foods. I'm very glad they found no problems with your heart. *4U

Sandy, I am so glad to hear it was nothing worse - but something that makes each of realize - that it could be for anyone of us - if we don't follow through with this challenge - but I for one am not competing in this - I am just trying to get healthy by loosing some weight and getting fit - OK?
