I saw this on the news and it was eerie looking. I know it had to be eerie feeling also! I am sure it was bad for anyone with breathing problems. I would hate to have to clean up after such a mess! I hope all of Cute T's are okay after the wind storm! Yoriko seemed a little upset when she was anticipating the wind storm. I guess she was going to be in the middle of it. Meganne, how far do you live from Sidney? Were you affected by the dust at all? What about Chris? I need to get a map pulled up on the computer and then find out where all of you live. It would be nice to know where some of the nicest people I have met on line actually live. I have been lazy by not doing so before now! I do hope ALL of you from Australia are okay! Hugs, Linda
Our place was covered in red dust, I can't go outside because of my allergies and even when I open the door I can taste the dust. It's not as bad today as it was 2 days ago, at least the sky isn't red any more, but you can still taste it and smell it.
Ray's car looks like he has been travelling through the outback!!!
here are some links for you, first one is Penrith where I live:

This one should bring up a Map showing Sydney to Penrith:

I hope they work for you.
hugs n roses, Meganne
Saw it on the news last night, love your pictures! Hope it settles soon.
Oh my meganne, my son and dil is also lining in Sydney (blacktown) I wonder how it looks like at their place. I feel so sorry fo you all, we've got full sunshine and a light breeze this morning. Hugs Marie.
WooHoo Meg, you got all that and all I had was blue skies and sunshine, haha! Love and hugs sweetie, and just hope that the dust was not inside your house as well.
wow, this is so full of dust. What is that creepy dinasour doing there? did he come along with the red dust?
Pictures were sent to me by my Son so I'd say one of his clever friends thought Godzilla was using the dust as a cover to finally come out of hiding. LOLOLOL!!!!
Thanks for the pictures, Meganne! This is really something! I would think the cleanup will be awful. We are having dust storms in the U.S. too. Last year, Georgia was having a drought - and now the state is flooding with more rain to come.
Funny how the climate is changing all over the world. Our Winter seems to be lasting longer this year, and our Summers are also getting hotter and hotter.
Dear Megane, thank you for those pictures, it is incredible, take care of you
The air is cleaning now, but still fog outside. It's 12:20pm. I've been sneezing, even wearing mask. And crying...well that is another story.
Hope you are okay.
Love,
Yoriko
So sorry to hear about your sneezing and having to wear a mask - and I'm also asking you to please not cry!
Love and blessings Chris
Wow, that's eerie! When I was 5 years old, my parents took me and drove across the USA, from PA to California and back, seeing all the famous (and not so famous) things in between, we were gone for a month. Somewhere in Oklahoma maybe, we ran into a dust storm. It was so bad Dad had to stop the car sometimes, couldn't see, and I remember being in the back seat, listening to that sand 'shusshing' against the windows, smelled the dust even thru closed windows, and being really scared. Those pics are really something, Meg. Now, do you suppose, with all that dust coming east, that the East Coast of OZ is going to sink a bit further into the sea with the weight? Hee hee hee, deepen Sydney Harbour, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji
Nah.
It's headed out towards New Zealand. We're just hoping it isn't enough to form a bridge between the 2 countries as there are enough Kiwis living in Aus already. LOL!!!
JOKING of course, please don't anyone be offended, I love Kiwis.
Hugs n roses, M
Y U C K...sure glad it isn't here!!! I'm sure that if you were to write on cars the dust would be imbedded into the paint!!
Thanks for sharing this with us; watched it on the morning news and found it amazing. Wear a mask when out of doors, please, to protect your lungs.
*4u!
Jacqueline
I live at Padstow, NSW and I thought the ALIENS had arrived this morning....very scary....
Lynn
Would have had to be Martians from the red planet, they brought Godzilla with them... LOL!!!
HNR, M
I've been reading about the weather in Australia this morning...WOW!!!
Please ALL you Cuties...be careful out there...prayers are with you.
Hugs,
Some pics of Sydney's famous Bondi Beach taken this morning.
I must admit when DH told me, this morning, that his car was covered in red dust from South Australia, I thought he was off his rocker, but after he had left for work I went and checked. Sure enough, his white car was under a blanket or red ochre, as was everything else in the yard, the dog kennel, the cat kennel, all the garbage bins, everything.
It is phenomenal to think that this dust has travelled in the sky from so far away about 2,000km.
Unbelieveable but true.
oh my goodness this looks awful i would not want to be there right now i fill for you to have to clean up after this is over
So nice of you to show photo's, it shows us who is not there what it must actually feel like. eeeerie !!!
That's crazy! Doesn't that seem like an awful long way for dust to travel? They must have been some hellacious winds! I must admit to never being witness to a dust storm, so I don't know how unusual it might be in Australia.
Last time it happened here was 1940, so it's not a common occurrence, thankfully.
We saw it on the news in Holland on TV Meganne. lots of cleaning I suppose
For the first time since 1940, the red dust blocked out the sky and covered everything in its path.
This made for some very unusual photo's of Sydney famous harbour....
Godzilla was one of our favorites growing up and watcing it on "Chiller Theater"...My Dad got us started with it and we just could not wait for it to come on...Ultraman was our hero.
