just can send you hugs, prayers and an imaginary shoulder to cry on. that's what friends of cute are for. Hope better days will come for you!
Special prayers just for you. How can your planned "UP" day turn into a truly DOWN day - I think you are just building character. Hang in there, prayers are on your side.
Life is like traveling down a hilly road. When you get to the bottom the only way to go is UP.
Oh my goodness - no wonder - you fell apart - then it got worse. I will be praying for you and your dear ones. *4U
Sorry to hear about all this, You will be in my thoughts and prayers - Hugs Yvonne
Chenille, that's one heck of a day. I can't help much about your Mom, except to say that it's wonderrul she had the strength, both mental and physical, to even get out with a friend. And a blessing she has a friend to get out with! Sorry it tired her out, but I'm sure she enjoyed herself.
About your poodle, though, I can help. My cat Minou had a small stroke after her operation for cancer. The vet said it was not totally unexpected after that kind of surgery to throw a clot, just like people do. She was very very subdued and quiet for a few days, mainly just sleeping, getting up to use the litterbox. I had to hand feed her, because she sort of 'forgot' what to do when she was hungry. Her legs on the stroke side were weak, and I had to be careful with her, putting her down gently so she had time to take the weight on the front foot, or it would buckle and she'd go on her little face. Believe me, I was scared, and this behaviour was totally unlike Minou. But every day she gets better, she was outside on the porch doing 'therapy' yesterday, walking like a tightrope walker on the porch railing! Eeeekkkk! I so wanted to grab her, because that little foot was shaking as she kept walking. But she did it, and didn't fall off, and was very proud of herself indeed! So, let your doggie sleep as much as she wants, sleep is good for stroke, it lets the brain heal. Make sure she eats well, and if she gets confused about something, just gently help her, as you would a person. Don't "make" her do things she doesn't want to do, her body will tell her what she can and can't do, animals are smarter than people, they actually listen to their bodies! The best news is, stroke doesn't get any worse, only better. What happens initially is the worst it gets. So, you can look forward to healing. Perhaps the vet can give you some idea why it happened, so you can prevent it from happening again. If you have company coming, it might be better to give your lovely dog the option to be in a quiet place away from the company, she may find them too stressing right now. Big, big hugs for you, you have much to bear at this time. We're here for you. Marji
Thank you so much for your concern.Mum does enjoy getting out while she is still able.As for our poodle, she seems much better today.I'm so thankful!
Thanks for the info...the vet said that it may just be a one time thing, but you know how we worry..( negative thoughts, not good!)
She is our third standard, the other two both passed young. One with liver cancer and the other with limphoma (sp?)Both were adult when we got them (one was a rescue) so we didn't have a lot of time with them. This one was first puppy and had a good background so hope she will overcome this.
Thanks again, hugs to you and flowers.
P.S. How thoughtless of me..I do hope your kitty is doing well.I did not mean to be so self centered. Thanks again for being there!
Hugs

HI Chenille, well what a day you have had! You poor thing. I love to cry as it gets rid of all the pent up emotions. I must admit I am a sook thought and cry at the drop of a hat.
I do hope Mum and dog are comfortable. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and blessings Chris
Things seem better today all around, just hope they stay that way for a while.
I also cry at the" drop of a hat"(wonder how that saying came about?) My DH knows that even if we watch a Walt Disney movie I will end up in tears!
Thanks for caring! *4U
AT THE DROP OF A HAT
DROP OF A HAT - "Acting readily or on some single signal. In the 19th century it was occasionally the practice in the United States to signal the start of a fight or a race by dropping a hat or sweeping it downward while holding it in the hand. The quick response to the signal found its way into the language for any action that begins quickly without much need for prompting." "Dictionary of Cliches" by James Rogers (Wings Books, Originally New York: Facts on File Publications, 1985).
Hope all else is well with you today and you will continue to see improvement in you puppy.;)
