Oh dear a big boo-boo I'm so far behind I don't believe I'll ever catch up. Bet she's enjoyed all the attention she's gotten but hate she had a break to get it. *
We've actually been trying not to give her extra attention while watching her very closely for signs of pain or fatigue. She does get tired more easily than before. I imagine lugging that cast around is exhausting. We don't want them to get the idea that getting hurt is a good thing.
Such a little pet, poor baby looks soooo sad...hope she is coming along fine now...
She had a check up today and the Dr. said she's healing very well. Next Thursday they'll cut the cast down so it's only below the elbow. Thank you for your concern.
oh dear, I know what she feels. big hugs for her!!!
We sat for the girls today and they were wearing jackets. If I didn't know Meghan had a cast under that jacket I'd never have guessed. She has adjusted quite well. Thanks for the hugs. I'll definitely give them to her!!
Awwww...that poor little sweetie! She is so adorable, and it stinks to see a little one hurting and miserable. I hope she heals quickly!
At the moment she is not hurting at all. Taking it all in stride like a little trooper. But, if they can't get her to wear her sling her shoulder is gonna get pretty sore from lugging that heavy cast around.
Awwwww she IS pitiful! My DS did the same thing at the same age and he was so active, he figured out that if when he fell, he put the elbow with the cast down, it didn't hurt as bad. By the time we had the cast removed he he about 4 inches above and below the elbow mushy! They bounce back quickly.;)
Dr said an adult with that break would be scheduling surgery with plates and pins. But both bones went right back where they belonged on their own so she should heal quickly.
what a cutie. Poor baby, no wonder she looks so unhappy. Hopefully she will heal well.
Dr said 6 to 7 weeks in the cast. He will probably cut it down to just below the elbow at about 4 weeks depending on how it's healing. She was fine as soon as they left the hospital. Maybe she remembers the month she spent in the NICU with her sisters when they were born. They all 3 hate hospitals!
There's a whole lot we can learn from little ones. Sure hope she heals well. My GKs always seem to do better once they get that little token stuffed toy in their hands.
Keep us posted. She's adorable.
That little stuffed toy is the Pooh bear that Grampa and I brought her from Disney world last year. She drags it and that stupid piece of a blanket everywhere.
She is a little cutie, hope she is back playing very soon.
She was back playing as soon as she got home from the hospital. Hasn't slowed her down a bit.
Maryjo, life sure has it's ups and downs. My niece had both legs in cast - when she was that age and went around with that pitful look on her face the whole time. Once the cast came off - she was on her way and smiled on and on. Hehehe!
The pitiful face only lasted while she was at the hospital. She acts like that stupid clunky thing has always been there. Hasn't slowed her down one bit.
She is so cute, hope all is going well - Hugs Yvonne
Dear, Sweet, little girl.......
So sorry for her injury. Guess she needs lots of cuddles and hugs. You too.
My prayers are for a swift, pain free recuperation.
Bless you all.
Jacqueline
Yeah, well she is a hugger, but that thing really hurts when she throws her arms around your neck. I learned to avoid it the first day.
Oh, how cute...I hope all goes well with her..Like Chris, my daughter did this a 8 and also was in gymnastics..When putting on her cast, the dr ask her her name and she told him it was Candi. This she did in November and with those two things he put a pink cast on with white stripes and called her his little Candi Cane.. She thought it was just the coolest thing..
When the girls were born we picked 3 key colors so we could tell them apart. Yellow, mint green and lavender. Meghan was yellow until recently. She has decided she wants everything PINK. The other 2 are very happy with their green and lavender. We all knew what color her cast would be!!
What a little "cutie" - sorry to hear about the fall. I hope the bones mend well. My daughter did the same thing when she was 8. Was a State and National Gymnast and had 6 weeks off! The bones grew back even stronger than before and healed really well. I hope Mum can cope with it all.
Love and blessings Chris
I think Moms biggest problem is going to be keeping her from clunking her sisters with the cast.
Sorry, PC shut down on me. Anyway here's the poor little thing in the hospital and right after getting her cast. She's 2 1/2.
Yea, it drives me crazy. It's just an 18inch square of very soft fleece. I cut several of them when the girls were in the NICU. The other 2 gave theirs up shortly after they came home so Meghan has them all now. They are as old as she is and not even soft anymore but she always has at least one.
