This may seem odd but is there a special way to clip the jump stitches sometimes little threads still stick up and can make the design seem messy. Maybe i just need a magnifying glass lol. Lisa

Thank you ladies I have taken the tweezers from my serger and am using to pull up the threads as all suggested. I will have to get a stronger light for night use. Am removing hoop and going to natural light so I can see. May still need the magnifying glass we will see I hope. Flowers for all.

I too clip between colors, I have utilized the reading glasses and true color lights to facilitate easy clipping. Good question, I have learned along with you! Blessings and a * to you!

I always try to cut away the stitches when i have to use the next color. So during the embroidery. but I think everybody hates the jumpstitches.

I too use tweezers and curved embroidery scissors, but as you can see in the stitch-outs of my Curly Birdcages I am not always as successful as want to be. My machine does a great job clipping jump-stitches but only when they are a certain minimum distance apart. I noticed in some bought designs some digitisers opt for longer distances by zigzagging form left to right instead of making the distance as short as possible; that makes clipping easier, but can still leave fuzzy ends.

I downloaded a beautiful tomato when I first began searching for designs. I believe I'll not exaggerate by saying there were about 500 jumps from one side to the other. There were three colors of red in the design and it would stitch one side about 10 stitches or so and immediately jump to the other side and do the same thing. Talk about fuzzy ends. When I finally got everything clipped I had a squashed tomato.

I use the tweezers that came with my serger. They hold the thread up so you can get really close to end of thread. Try it---you'll like it. :)

Lisa, this has been a problem for me, as well. I just hate jump stitches. I use a magnifying glass and a pair of really sharp little curves scissors. I do like to get to the jump stitches, as tippi said - before I go on to the next color - by taking it off the machine and clipping them as I go. *4U

I, too, use a pair of tweezers. It works great for lifting the jump threads. Makes it easier to snip :o)

I have small scissors, about 4 inches. They have a very sharp point and they curve up a little. They are perfect for cutting the jump threads. Every design is different, it depends on the digitizer and how good they are about fixing jump problems. Some designs have to have jump threads trimmed before you go to the next color either because it is too hard later or, I have found when I choose my own colors, because the under thread will show through the lighter color on top.

As each color finishes. I take the hoop off the machine and clip each jump stitch. Easier than trying to do them after all the design has stitched out.

Just be careful clipping those threads....if cut too short you could cut into one of the knots.

I thought I was the only one who had that problem. I have some tiny scissors that I can slip beneath the threads if they aren't too close together. I also have a magnifying light next to my sewing area. But I do find I still have trouble getting all of them. I'm afraid I'm going to cut the wrong threads.

Lisa, I just use my tweezers to lift it up nice and tight and then I can snip it with my curved blade scissor.;)
