I am so glad 4 u. I also had problems but since Bernina made their Version 5 software compatable I had no more problems. Want 2 thank u as well 4 mentioning 'SEWMUCH4RETIRMENT". This site is a whole new discovery 2 me. Anymore such sites?
WhooHoo! I have heard the worst storied from Vista and I think I would puddle up in the corner and cry if told I had to have it!
Please note mops directions below for the dongle update. I am so glad I don't have to buy another program!! SIL took old computer home with him to "play with" & see if he can get the lost data for me. Most of it I can find with time..but the partical alpha are what I can't get! I really didn't get any help from Viking much, but between mops & the Janice Henning site, I was able to regain use of my desk top! Tks to both of those gals!!!
Gerry I'm so happy for you that it all works now under Vista.
A Vista "success" story? Wow, unique!!! FIESTA is right, so glad for you, son in law must be a genius, and you have more patience than I ever would. If I ever have computer problems, I'm just re-installing Windows 2000 from my disks, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji
So glad all worked out. Computer sofeware can be really strange.
I am glad your 3D is working in Vista. That's a relief, isn't it. I just did not like to fork out a lot of money to upgrade to 4D, although they say the improvements make it worthwhile.
I was sure I installed 3D in Vista - not in XP compatible mode - and remembered I ran into trouble after that. I looked in the 3D files and noticed I downloaded and installed a new driver for the dongle. So I went to the Viking site and there's a huge (300 pages) file on FAQ about 3D which has the following on dongle problems in Vista:
Dongle H013 Error "No dongle attached. Cannot open program" when starting my 3D software on Windows® Vista, even though my dongle is inserted.
After you have installed the 3D Embroidery System software on a Windows® Vista computer, download and save the 3D Embroidery Vista Dongle Update. After saving the file on your computer, double-click the file to install the dongle update.
Note: If the following User Account Control message appears when installing the update: "An unidentified program wants access to your computer", click the 'Allow' option to continue
I must have DLed it there. Too late as a help for you, but maybe others will find it helpful.
Glad you got everything working and frustrations are gone. HAPPY DAY
