Hi CUTIES , what a night I had last night with Karma my 4mth Tabby cat.

I woke up 2 hearing yelping so I went rushing downstairs to investigate
I found Karma all tangled up in the cords at the bottom of my vertical blinds - Oh my she was yelping & attacking me so bad bcause her back leg was knotted around the cords & the more I tried the tighter it became & she was dangeling & I thought her poor leg is going to rip off - I had to cut & cut the cords till she was free . My poor baby was very lucky & I'm left nursing lots of bites & scratches but as least she is okay. Now I'm considering changing all my blins so this won't happen again

I am so sorry - to hear about your Karma, that is awful - yes it sounds like the cords on the blinds at the very least need to have some consideration. *4U

Yvonne, I'm so sorry!! Young cats & kittens are so very curious about those cords, especially when the bell-shaped knot covers on the ends clack together. It's one of the world's most perfect cat toys. And one that can get kitty into the trouble yours got into. Mine are the child-proof kind, with each cord being separate, but I have them either knotted up high on the window or the ends thrown up over the drapery rods (it's a "decorator" look among cat owners, our own special "shabby chic") so my baby kitty can't get them. She jumps after the rod that opens and closes the slats, too. Anything with cords, especially when the windows are open and a breeze is blowing, is going to lure the kitties. Keep the cords high until kitty gets a bit older and isn't into everything. She may find other things to be nosy about, 4 months is really still very much kitten, that's how old Polly is. She's been getting up on the back of the chair and eyeing the ceiling fan of all things! Kittens can be a terror.

As for you, make sure you get the bites taken care of!! If she bit badly, anywhere near a tendon, have it looked at, please. I'm not sure how far kitten teeth could sink in, but you can get a really nasty infection in the tendons from cat bites if they get you just right. It's not tetanus, but that tooth makes a puncture wound into the tendon sometimes. My late DH's hand swelled up like a grapefruit and was off work for a week when SaraJane nailed him. Please take care!! Hugs, Marji

Oh thank you so much Marji - I have had all 12 blinds taken down this evening just to be on the safe side because .......... Karma is still playing around them - she never learns tut tut! I just need to be very careful I love all furbabys & never want to risk any harm, they are too precious to me LUVS&HUGS Yvonne xxxx
