Before you start telling me to back-up, this was my back-up. It saved me last year when my internal drive got a virus. Unfortunately, I never backed up my back-up. Keep your fingers crossed for me, that I can get my data recovered. I'm still trying to figure out if this is a hardware problem or a virus. My feelings right now are what's a few thousand designs compared to my photos. I can always hunt out the designs, my photos are irreplacable.

Oh mercy! I lost my hard drive & did have some files backed up on external drive. NOW I see that can go too!! I also lost all the files on a flash drive that was plugged into the computer when it crashed. What is it with all the crashes lately!! Have had a couple folks try to retrieve my files, but the whole hard drive was gone & couldn't do it. I've also "lost" files on CD's, but a friend was able to find most of them! My small floppy disks were bad too! Is there ANYTHING out there that will hold on to your files?? I don't have the space to back up my thousands of files 3 or 4 times! Hope you get your pictures back as well as the files!

OMG! I'm so sorry! This really IS a tragedy. Losing your designs is bad enough, but all your photos??? I hope you can find a computer genius who might to bed able to recover everything for you!

Thank you all for your concern. I've been searching the web and an IT friend of mine has as well. I have hope that the drive itself is ok and only the internal power circuit is fried. It seems to be a common problem with this brand. I'll keep you informed. *4all

Deb this happened to me, I lost everything except what I had backed up, altho it had been awhile. I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful young man that works on my computer. He put in a new harddrive, took the old one and retrived all of my pictures, designs, and more. I do not know where you live, however, if you would like to contact him I can send you his information. H&*.

Deb, I hope you are able to get your photos back. I did not realize an external hard drive would crash. Guess I better get busy and back up on to cd's as well as my external hard drive. Do you have a good repair person to rely on? Maybe they can some how get the photos and also the designs back for you. Hugs for you. Mary

Oh I am so very sorry. I've always said "if the house is on fire save all my photo albums first." It is best if we periodically put what we have on external on discs this way we can save. I truly hope everything can be retrieved for u.

Even if we back up our external to cd or dvd it don't think they are safe on those disc's as they deteriate over a period of 5 years you should backup all every couple of months.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you all your photo's are unreplacable
Here is a good tip
Copy your pictures onto a dvd n order of dates events etc & label the discs & just put them away as though they are photo albums
I always do this & every now & then I pop a dvd into the tv/dvd player & remenise on all my photo's as a slide show - at least there is no way you can lose your precious memories due to hard drive crashes and such.
The embroidery designs - I also use the same system about every 3 mths with the dates etc
You can never trust electronic gadgets to be 100% safe , so i would defo back up files just in case,
I hope you retrive your contents in the drive
Hugs&luvs Yvonne x
