Have you ever tried Dried Blood? You can get at your garden store. The critters don't want any part of it! My mother used it all the time in her garden.
I think the bunnies are stealing the tomatoes...we wish we could a a spy cam...so we could watch!!!
I live in the country and I would vote for the raccoon also. They can be a real problem and there's more than one if they are around. Cute critters, but do a lot of damage.
Tear our bird feeder up!

A friend of mine has a tomatoe plant. She put it in a container because a mouse was having dinner at night. 2 weeks ago she brought the plant in the house like she did every evening, but this time the mouse was already in the plant. It startled her so, the plant went flying and she slipped. She is still hurting from the whole experience.
It could be what we call "ground hogs". I tried to grow cantaloupe one year and they ate pieces out of every one.
Also, you can try to take the tomatoes (green)vine and all, hang upside down in a cool basement and they ripen slowly. I'm surprised you have any left. Our would have been frost bitten by now.
Pick the green ones...wrap them in newspaper and store them in a dry dark place...then at Christmas you will have beautiful ripe tomatoes for dinner!!!
My co-workers dog eats all her veggies in the garden...she had to builda fence around it to keep the "BEAST" out as she calls it.....I simply laugh at her daily because of it...since it is fall/winter coming, she let the dog have at it.....How about putting some wire cages around your plants to see if that will help...you could use chicken wire and just bend it up and over the plants...good luck and let us know the progress...deanna
I can't imagine Emily unless as Marji says a coon. Unless it's a 2 legged critter. Mine get eaten on the vine by rabbits, squirrels, & other 4 legged creatures. Alas winter is on it's way now & all the tomatoes are gone. Maybe u could set a trap. *
Oh, Emily, I don't know! Raccoons, maybe? They can be little devils, and they do have hands. Most things like mice just chew the tomatoes on the vine, or the ground. If it's a raccoon, you might just have to plant more tomatoes so you get some. I'd say let the dog out, but the silly coons will fight with a dog. Good luck, it's rough to lose those last few ripe ones, isn't it? Hugs, Marji
If it was my house I would say it was the dogs. Yup, they love tomatoes. Go figure......
