I've read thru the answers here, and it will depend on your specific market. I don't know if you're in a city, small town, north, south, all those things make a difference. Here in the Erie, Pennsylvania area, we have a large craft fair this time of year put on by the local Public TV station. It's held indoors in a large building, and the price for tables is more than you're being asked for. But it's a juried craft show, only the best get asked, and it's well publicized by the radion and tv station. We're a fairly rural area, but people come from 3 states to this craft show, and the vendors make a bundle. Some percentage goes to the Public TV station, because it's part of their fund-raising effort. A lot of people do their Christmas shopping at the craft fair.
If your craft fair is indoors, and well publicized, I'd go for it. Also, you have to have a lot of things to sell, and they will have to be not terribly expensive. First, the economy is bad, people don't have the money to spend on Christmas. That's also good, because I think people are going to do more shopping at craft fairs than the malls. But your prices have to be competitive with all the other crafters. Remember that doing expensive sweaters, etc., might not be a good idea, since people going to a craft fair don't have a huge amount of cash in thier pockets. Unless you're set up to take credit cards, etc., don't have high priced items, you won't sell them. You're more likely to do well with less expensive things, and a good variety. Best of luck to you, whatever you decide!! Hugs, Marji
I have known booths at a fair to go at a much higher price. I guess it depends on the traffic that is expected to come through the area. But $80 is a pretty reasonable fee. You may find SOME cheaper, but usually that will be fore a very casual, less advertised, event.
mema I don'tknow since I have never done this but I am sure you will get lots of great answers from all over. *
I come from Australia but the things that I take into consideration before paying for a table ,booth etc;
1 Is it undercover ,bad weather ruins everything . Parking nearby especially if you have heavy things to carry ? What else is on that day that could keep the protential customers away .Is it being held in an area where the people have money to spend . Money is often tight just after kids go back to school .How much space do you get ? DO you need insurance ( public risk )?
2 Talk to people who have been to the show either as a stall holder or a visitor to get their opinion .Also what is being sold at the show ,there could be too much of similar items for sale & customers begin to think all the the stalls are selling the samething & don't look at all the stalls.
Sometimes it is better to visit the show to really see how everything works & then book a stall for the next one .
for a big place it is abought right I went to a sewing embroidery show in florida and it cost 350.00 we stayed at the hotel where it was at we were there for a week but I made 1700.00 this was a few years back.
Ronny, I think that is a fair price - no pun inteneded. I have paid that for a small Farmer's Market - did great on each day - I made over $300 for the three days I was there. I have been to a smaller event and paid less - but didn't make very much - almost wasn't worth the effort. But the experience was good. Good luck! I hope you have lots of items prepared - because two weeks will sneak by fast. *4U
I guess it depends on where the craft fair is. I come from a small town in Eastern Ohio and around here that is huge....before I paid that I would have to be guarenteed tons and tons of people would come through. The most I have paid here is from $15 to $35 per table with them suppling the tables. I have heard that larger cities do command more but they usually have alot more people coming through too.
There is a small one here in town this weekend talbes are 20.00 and they supply the table. I may go to that one I'm just not sure.
I just went to one last weekend and it was $15 a table and they supply the tables. I will be getting a table next year *
That is a good price, here in Houston for some small craft show on a weekend is twixw that price.****
I usually pay 30.00 for a space about 10x10. This gives me room for 2 tables L shaped and than I have my lattice across the back for hanging things. I only do the 1 or 2 day shows, 3 days gets to be to much as I also have a REAL job. I've seen in a few areas where it may be 100.00, but I stay away from those.
For a big fair, that is reasonabe. I pay $100 for a 2 day city run show that has about 5-6000 people come through. If you know of someone who has done it before, you could ask about sales. hth
I don't know about a craft fair but where i am it is $20 to set a table up at a craft market. a much better option and if you don't have one near you why not start one up.This is in Australia and they run monthly on average.some on Saturdays and some on a Sunday I would only go on Saturday though.
We have flea markets where you can get tables for as little as 7.00 but they want you to give your things away. I really can't afford to do that.
we also have flea markets but there is craft markets just for crafters as there is also farmers markets. all for their own reasons.
