I do not think I have ever seen anything this beautiful before! I love the lace and the Sweet pea flowers! The more I see of your work the more beautiful it gets! I would be afraid to even use something this special! It would just make me sick if anything happened to it! Your pieces get more beautiful everytime you post another design! I just wish I could have been more like my Father's Mother. she could sit down and cut out a pattern off the top of her head, it would fit, and she could make some of the cutest dresses I have ever seen. Granny never had a lesson of any kind. She got married at 13 and had Dad at 15 and 5 more after him. She was the best cook in the world and could make anything taste like it was fit for the Queen. I do wish I had paid more attention to her when she was trying to teach me to sew and to cook. Of course, when I was growing up I did not like to wear the dresses that she made because they always had so many frills and ruffles and I was a big tomboy! I was always the girl in the middle of all the softball games when there were grown men and boys playing. My Dad was a pro ball player in his younger years and HE was the one I tried to be like instead of his Mama! My 1st cousin is 3 months younger than I am and she was the prissy girl in the family. Oh what I would not give to be able to do the kind of work you do! I do not have the patience to get involved in something that time consuming and I would never be able to do anything this beautiful!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I had to learn to sew from an early age (12) BUT I didn't get into the embroidery side till I was about 55. I had a Janome 8000 ( still got it -though not for embroidery) Now I have got my second Brother machine, 3100D And it has over 37,000,000,000 stitches on it. I think you could say I've run it in.
you are truly amazing.. this is a heirloom project..
You, you prepare very beautiful ones always, congratulations
Roslyn, this is just beautiful. You did a wonderful job on it. Do you remember where you got the lace designs?
Thank you tippi. The lace came from S embroidery. The same lace I used for the Red Rose Cloth posted previously. But I only used 4 sets instead of the 8 used for the Cloth.
My goodness, this is truly beautiful. I rate this one in my top three favorites of your incredible work!!
I just love your xquisite delicate work. The bobbin fill technique intrigues me? Ros would you mind emailing me with some info, pretty please.

I'd really appreciate it. hugs n roses, Meganne
I love sweetpeas roslyn. this is beautiful *
thank you Lillian. We do too. My late grandson calls them "mummy break you leg flowers" as Peta was climbing onto the brick wall to ick them one day and I happen to say "that's right , fall off and break the other leg" He was only 3 at the time -so "sweetpeas" are always Mummy break your leg flowers.
close up is just beautiful, well done Roslyn ****4u
The lace and the flower design are gorgeous.Beautiful work *4U Lynn.
Can you explain this more so i can understand more about how one would do this thanks Carolyn
OK here goes. I do the lace first and stitch it up by hand . Put them together in the order I like and stitch again. Measure the length and width of what the lace come out to -and rule up the fabric in this case longer than 33 x 22 . about 2 inches larger. Place lace on fabric with lots of pins, measure to make sure all lace co-insides with each other etc. opposites . Then I stitch the lace on using a small zig-zag stitch-using the same thread that I used to make the lace. Stitching SLOWLY ( so that it doesn't pucker and shrink) then I make the zig-zag into satin stitch and adjust the width (same as the first step) stitch around the lace.(don't wash out the watersoluable yet) Then using templates (Using your printer) print out so many of the designs you need. You may need to reverse some of the designs to make the designs look more pleasing. On this one I started at the top and worked down. That way the stems are covered with the next design. The one in the middle is sewn last to cover up both right and left side designs. Do hope that you can understand this.I then use fray stop on the inside of the edge of the lace (sewn to the fabric)allow to dry and then use applique scissors to cut close to the lace as possible .
Thank you Roslyn for these instructions. Have tried this before and not had much success with it. Wondered how you always got such neat results with your lace edgings. Your runner is just beautiful. Maybe have found a use for some of that bobbin fill that my Janomes don't like too much. *4u. Also didn't realise that you are an aussie too. I live in Bowral in the Southern Highlands in NSW.
I admire all the work that you do and as Mops said here, OUTSTANDING! I wish I could just "pop-in" for a cup of tea, admire all your work and ask LOTS of questions from someone who, like a few other Cuties, seems to be in a class of her own! Suzette
Thank you Suzette. You are most welcome -If you live in Brisbane Australia. The kettle will be on .
Roslyn, I live in Botswana (Africa). I believe Australia is beautiful - have a friend in Melbourne and miss her so much!
Suzette, that's just a drop in the ocean. Yes Australia is beautiful but then so is Africa( So I hear) But the kettle will still be on. hugs Ros
This is absolutely beautiful! Very elegant! You did a wonderful job!
wow this is real lovely design and great work
hugs Sonja
Outstanding! The lace is beautiful - I see there are 2 different designs - and I love the sprigs of flowers. Great work!!
Rolyn, this is lovely! When you use the 'bobbin fill' - is it in the top and the bobbin and what is the purpose of using it?
Shirlene, The bobbin fill is used in top and bobbin .( the same as you use when you embroider) I wanted a cotton finish- a little stronger than using Embroidery thread.Sews out beautifully too
