I use a Shape Cut Plus from June Tailor,it is about 16" x 22". It was expensive - $45.00, but worth every penny I paid for it. It has paid for itself over and over again in the time it saves me. It is a sheet of heavy duty plastic with slits cut through it every half inch. There are markings so that you can cut on the diagonal for cutting squares, hexagons, etc. I bought it here in Canada, but I am sure it is available in quilt shops or Joann Fabrics.
I use that little strip cutter ruler you get with the 'slices' thru it every 1/2 inch. It works so perfectly for making strips for your borders etc. Just be sure to fold you fabric so that all of it fits under the ruler and you don't have to move your ruler. It works like a charm, to me worth every penny (only about $5 if you catch the sale at joanns)
I thought those looked cool too...don't have one. Isn't it mainly for quilters? I am definately not a quilter. I also thought the bobbin sidewinder looked cool too - now that one I could use more. Good luck with it - 0:)
I have one they are ok but not something to replace the rotery cutter,i bought mine for $60.00 AUS a few months ago. Sorry i could not get excited over mine. Heather.
Thanks for the input. Makes my decision not to buy a lot easier. Just thought it looked like a great tool. But I want a perfect strip for that kind of money
Hey,
I have one , I find it very handy if you don't need a very stright cut. I bought it to cut fabric to make hairbows. I really can't get it to cut even. So, I use it to make crochet rags rugs..I caught mine on sale at Joanns 40% off otherwise I would not have bought it..
