Sandy, I like what sciencewidow said and agree - if the design is made to work with it in that manner - go for it - if it is just a FSL corner that you want to put on a handkerchief - I would stitch it out - attach it to the handkerhief and then apply 'Fray Block' - allow to dry - then cut away the corner of the handkerchief. As I also agree with what Meganne said, the LACE can shrink some. Each technique can and will work - depends on what you are comfortable with. Good luck! *4U Shirlene
I do it exactly like sciencewidow. I do have the ability to move my embroidery arm in very tiny increments to assure that I get it exact. I generally print my design (don't forget to change its color because white doesn't show on white paper) and then mark exactly where I want it positioned with an erasable pen.;)
I would sew the dried design on top of the (starched) handkerchief with a narrow zigzag stitch and then cut the hanky back to the zigzag. At least that's what I used to do with handmade bobbin lace. Worked well for me.
I think jrob stitched some napkins or hankies with lace corners. maybe , she will come to your rescue. I saw the corners on Sonja Showalter from The Stitchery Mall and drooled.
Sandy I think it depends on the actual design and how confident you feel.
I would first do a test stitch of the design to make sure you are happy with it and its size.
FSL tends to shrink a little once the stabiliser is washed out, so, if it was me, I would stitch out the lace, wash it thoroughly in warm to hot water to soften it, let it dry and then see how it looks, before making up my mind.
