suedewsbury, WELCOME to te CUTE family - this is a great question - I hope the other card maker's answer. Myself - I usually stitch right on the card. *4U
I buy the cards, with openings cut out already, You can find them in hand embroidery shops etc.
I stick them in with glue. Look for the Hi-Tech glue. lakeland sell this. these cards have a backing too. so once dry I stick the back onto the embroidery for a neat finish.
Cost a bit more, but you have a far superior Card
Plus it really shows off your embroidery.
Hi and welcome to Cute. I have just looked at your cards and they look great. Sorry but I dont understand the fusible web bit. I sew on fabric - a wide variety inc felt. I use double sided tape to glue/mount the design onto the card. Sometimes I cut a apature into the card and using the old double sides glue it all in place and put a backing on to cover everything up on the reverse.
from having looked at your profile I see you are a retired teacher, what did you teach?
Happy sewing
Thanks for that - fusible web is iron on paper backed "glue" trade name bondaweb in UK.
I was a Science teacher!
Hi never ever would I have thought of using Bondaweb in card making. I do use it in many other ways, having 'inherited' a huge roll of the stuff. My tape comes from 'The Works' where its cheap and does the job. I have also directly embroidered on to card
Bondaweb is brilliant stuff, but watch it, it deteriorates over time (the backing and glue separate). Use it while its in good condition.
How do you go about stitching direct onto the card? Doesn't it disintegrate (like my soluble stuff did)?
