No questions are dumb. You wouldn't believe how many of us out here want to know the same thing. He, he! Thanks for asking.
Glad I am not the only one. Ya know when you are so new to doing something - I always feel like a dummy. I do love learning and have learned so much from all of you.
If I inderstand correctly you get a filled design where you would expect the fabric to play the star part. Maybe the design gives you an option: either do the applique and leave out the filling stitches (that would mean skipping one colour) or do the complete embroidery. But I've never come across a design like that. It's usually the one or the other, not both. Can you upload a stitch-out of the design?
Yes, exactly. Also on the same design it said "not set" as a color. I assumed this meant I choose the color. But 2 colors later it said "appliqued position" Well, I didn't know what to do so I just picked a color and started it. It stitched what turned out to be his sleeve. It was a regular fill stitch - I thought it would be a perimeter outline but it wasn't. It was a design from embroiderydk.com - It turned out pretty, but not what I expected. I will up load a pic when I get home. 0:D
you can also take a look at this site, for instructions, good luck!
I have used this method as well, but prefer the method Ricky describes. Less risky.
You learn something new every day! I never tried applique this way before. It's nice and clean. Thanks!
I have instructions for applique on my web site.I am not sure if they all do them this way, but this is the way I do them. It is very easy to follow.
You are right this does seem a lot easier. I will have to try this. My design had a "surprise" applique postiong in it. It did not use straight stitches to outline or anything. Thank you for all the help and your website. 0:D Lyn
