stand, used a metallic thread needle and POOF I just stitched out the cutest xmas stocking with sparkling snowflakes and shiny balls (giggle - sounds like rudolf's been in the snow to long- giggle) and it stitched perfectly. First time in over a year of trying. But by compiling everybodys tips and finally putting them to use it worked perfectly. Thanks so much for now adding a new dimension to my stitching., wheeeeeeeeee

You are correct, I think the large eye needle and slowing the machine down is the solution.

Thanks for your tips. I did see a tip on some show (cant remember. With metallic or thread that curls thread a needle with it and then pull the needle thru some the styrofoam popcorn and it will stop the thread from curling.

I'm so glad you mastered it! I hope you will post your stocking in the project section! I did some projects with metallic thread and have yet to master it. The only thing I haven't tried is the special needle. I guess that is the ticket. I'm going to have to purchase the proper needles!

Karen, I am looking forward to seeing this stocking! If you got that excited over the metallic thread not breaking, it has to be special!
I saw the pictures of your babies a couple of days after I got my computer back. I went back for 10 to 12 days trying to get caught up and see what I had missed. They are beautiful! You are one of the "Special People" to take care of and love a sick pet and stick with it. Over the years, I have rescued several furbabies that most would not take and they have been the most rewarding Pets that I have had, except for a few that I bought and the only litter we ever had at my house! Those with special needs seem to appreciate life and their family more than most. When I lived in Sandersville, one of my best friends were my Vet and his wife. That is how I got involved in the rescue of abused and thrown aways! They knew I would take them and love them and either find a good home for them or keep them. The city use my Vet for animal control and they had to be put down by the end of the week. I can not count the number of furbabies that he called me to come get. You are a true animal lover and I thank you for caring so much! So many people would not take in and/or keep a sickly pet long enough to get it well! Linda

Well my poor Zorro will never get well, but he is without the bestest kitty ever. He was diagnosed with a massive tumor that was collapsing his lungs and the vet gave him 2-3 weeks to live. That was 3 YEARS

ago. Sylvia Brown (the psychic) posted a prayer to say to help heal sick and injured pets and I said it over and over and over and over and last year when the vet checked him out, ----- no signs of the tumor! Make your own conclusions, but I'm grateful....

Congratulations ! What finally helped me was putting my metallic threads in the freezer and taking the spool out exactly when I needed it.And viola, my snowflakes come out beautifully.

I am glad that you got it to work. I tried several ways to complete a simple little project with metallic thread - i finally gave up and tried to save it with just my rayon thread. I was using Sulky thread, and I think that it is not the quality of some of the other. Maybe when I have more time and patience I will try something again.

I think the key is these new 'metallic thread' needles. That's what they are actually called and they seem to have made the difference. Try it you'll like it, got em at Joanns....
