Here is the tissue box cover that I asked for directions to sew up. This is
another freebie pattern that I am thankful for.
How did I do it.. well..... as usual I try to save time and stabelizer so I
emberoidered two sides in the 6x10 hoop, twice, then the top in the 5x7 hoop. Then I attached the four sides to the top, then I alligned the sides, wrong sides together, and stitched from the bottom up the side and I was lucky that the sides did not slip and slide as I sewed, giving a clean edge.
Then I rinced the piece then pressed dried it in a towel. I had also made a box carton shape, using the finished pattern pieces before sewing as the pattern, then covered the 'box' clear food wrap, to set the wet finished onto while it dried, I didn't have a tissue box to use.
I'm not happy with the finished design because it is too dense and there are lumps menaing it dosen't lay flat. Also I began by using 2 layers of heavy stabelizer but my son reminded me and I then used only 1 layer stabelizer on organza. After washing, the pieces on stabelizer alone managed to loosen and there are two holes in the pattern while the pieces on organza came out very nicely.
As my first attempt it was ok but definately NOT a good job!!
